TheBrewo pretty much nailed it on the head here. My buddy had this served on tap while at the brewery. This was the first beer either of us had from Three Floyds that we weren't really happy with, a sad disappointment from them, and a very rare miss.

This was served on tap at Three Floyds Brewery & Pub in Munster, Indiana. It arrived in a generic nonic, shimmering out a golden amber coloring. It held a one finger head of cream colored foam that showed decent retention. A chill haze distorted clarity, but no sediment was noted. Carbonation appeared to be average. The aroma gave soured lemon graininess, tissue paper, lavender, Concord grape skins, mint dental floss, amber and pale malt base, cheap apple and pear fruit cloy, raw tobacco and basil leafiness, nectary hops, peach fuzz, phenolic clove bitters, sour chemical bite, mossy moldiness, copper, mineral water, tart vitamin C fruitiness, and crispy raw kale. Through the flavoring we encountered massive vanilla woodiness, wet and vinous bamboo, phenolic plastics, white flour and American pale powder adjuncts, white corn and white rice, mild buttery diacetyls, heavy peach and nectarine fruit sugars, confectioner’s sugar sweetness, wet dog fur, caramel and honey soaked malt notes, singed oak, mallow char, liquid candy corn, cornmeal, acrylic paint, and lemon drop candy sugars. The body was medium but chewy enough, and the carbonation was moderate. Slurp, smack, cream, and froth were all appropriate, albeit a bit light, and the beer was easy on the hard palate, without harsh dryness or over the top prickle. The abv was easy but the beer drank a bit more slowly due to its intense oaky qualities.

Overall, this is a highly curious beer where insanely heavy oak barreling meets a wildly light lager. While it is something you could sip and critique all night, it doesn’t showcase the greatest base, with overrepresentation of grapey sugars and adjuncty grain. That said, the worst thing about it was the soured, adjuncty nose, while the best thing about it was the interplay of the big vanilla oaky notes with that light base. The beer seems appropriate for a “Barbarian Beer Dinner”, although we unfortunately were not in attendance of that event, whereas it is savory enough to offset a large meat platter with enough oiliness to wash it down with. When inquiring more specifically about this particular beverage, the bartender couldn’t really tell us anymore than the one-line description on the menu. This is a highly interesting beer, and for that we thank you.
