Chocolate cake (without the frosting), fudge, bakers chocolate, French roast, roasted grains, toast. Aroma is killer - all of the above. Taste follows right behind although it's the hefty bitterness of coffee that punches through first and assaults the palette. Certainly not subtle. The bitterness follows through in the mouthfeel and it's surprisingly thin (not watery) considering the aroma. Not sweet or balanced - it's a coffee-forward beer and it makes no pretense otherwise, on the label or your palette. Great example of the style - smooth as all hell.

22oz bottle, dated 2/18/16. Pours brown with a large sized dark khaki head; some lacing on the glass. Smells mostly of cold brew coffee, steel cut oats, and medium roasted malt with some sweet vanilla and floral hops; good intensity. The taste follows exactly with coffee, malt, oats, and hops. Some mild sweetness, bitterness, and dryness in the finish. Thinner body and above average carbonation. Overall, it's very refreshing for a coffee/oatmeal stout, but could use a better mouthfeel.

Black in color and impenetrable to light. There's a half inch of dense and creamy tawny brown head. Light lacing. Aroma is of dark roasted and very bitter black coffee. I also smell a light aroma of dark malt underneath. I taste bitter dark roasted barley (yet not as intense as the aroma implies), dark malt, and dark chocolate. The mouth is very dry, silky, and lightly oily.

Large shared bottle inn Atlanta. No sediment,
Dark red brown body that is clear but nearly black in the glass. Somewhat weak head.
Light to medium coffee in a fairly complex ale. This leaves the coffee nicely balanced with the stout.
Slightly boozy. Lightly bitter. Smooth.

P: Dark opaque brown with a creamy tan head.
A: Coffee and hops.
T: Coffee milkshake, coffee, espresso coffee molasses and some hops.
M: Some sweet, some bitter. Fresh. Refreshing. Syrupy. Oatmeal, not so much.
O: Great light stout offered by 3 Floyds.

Purchased at 3 Floyds Brewery both on a Nitro line and not on the Nitro line by regular keg. Smells of deep coffee and chocolate notes. My wife who doesn't drink beer actually drank half of it. If you like coffee this tastes like a nice strong coffee. Have to say this is one of my favorite types of beers in the Winter and I would rather drink a few of these rather than eat!

Got this on tap. Nice mocha frothy cap that last the entire time or I drink that fast. Aroma of roast coffee, mild vanilla and milk sweetness. Coffee forward on the taste that flows well with hints of cream. Mouthfeel is dry and satiable. This is not a standout but rather another fine coffee stout of many to choose from.
