Pours a hazy golden orange color with a finger of white head that went away almost immediately.
Aroma reminds me of sour candy. There is a nice sweet/sour thing going on. Get vibrant pear (like pear juice), green apple, apple cider vinegar, lactic acid, and slight funk. Reminds me of pear and green apple sweet tarts or sour punch kids.
Taste follows the aroma quite well. There is some strong tartness up front. Get pear and green apple sour candy, slight funk, cider vinegar, and lactic acid. There's a nice balance of pear juice sweetness mid-palate, but the enamel-peeling tartness of cider vinegar, lemon, and lactic acid washes this away into the finish. Like other FFF sours, the sourness on this one is intense.
Medium body. Nicely carbonated and clean.
This is a nice sour offering from a brewery that sometimes struggles with this style. Although this is intensely sour, the sweetness of the pear juice keeps this beer in check and makes it highly enjoyable. I've never had a sour so reminiscent of sour candy. Great stuff!

Copper and hazy with 2 fingers of white head.
Smells of cellar, macaroni, lemon juice and acid.
The taste follows the nose with a light fruity hint of pear.
Medium, oily thick jello body with moderate to low carbonation.
I got this in Grand Rapids, drinking near Saginaw, MI, Dec 7th, 2022.

2022 vintage
I believe Foeder Fiend was the first Wild Ale I had from 3 Floyds, and I thought it was awesome. It was only like 2 weeks ago but I went out to grab 2 more 4 packs of it. Then I remembered I’ve had this bottle for about 2 months, and I knew I had to crack it open soon given how much I enjoyed the last one. Cascade did a beer with pear recently that I wasn’t much a fan of, but I have higher hopes with this one. Let’s get into it
Pours a cloudy deep orange with 3 fingers of rocky beige head that fades to a thin cap and leaves minimal lacing
Oh man, this is super tart and lightly funky in the nose. I’m picking up on aromas of tart apricot, pear skin, white wine vinegar, lemon juice, stone, apple skin, sharp oak, wildflower honey, and bready malt
The sharp tartness (unsurprisingly) really cuts through in taste as well. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting lemon juice, pear, crabapple, honey, wet hay, sharp oak, and bready malt. The swallow brings notes of white wine vinegar, apple skin, pear, stone, honey, lemon zest, wet hay, and light crackery malt
A light medium body pairs with aggressive carbonation, resulting in a very sour beer. Finishes a bit sticky but the over the top tartness helps
Oh man, this is also great! Pretty unique as far as the style goes fruit-wise, and certainly better than Cascade’s attempt. I guess I need to keep trying more Wild Ales from 3 Floyds

Pear Bear pours a darker bronze color, no head. Aroma is sour, and lots of white wine. Flavor is sour, big white wine notes, sweet pears, and bubblegum notes. Fizzy, but works very well with this beer.

Pours a hazy oranges gold color with a minimal head that disappears quickly. Aroma of tart fruit. Taste is sweet and a bit on the sour side. Crisp and dry.

12oz bottle, bottled 04/27/21, served in a tulip glass.
Appearance: Mostly clear golden amber, thin white ring of foam, some occasional islands of lacing.
Smell: Tart, sour, a bit funky, apple vinegar smell.
Taste: Wow this one's tart and sour. I'm getting very little but apple vinegar and a little tiny bit of mild fruit at the end. It's really pretty bad.
Mouthfeel: Good carbonation, but strongly sour and tart with an astringent dry finish.
Overall / Drinkability: I am wondering if this has gone over, or is such a strong wild ale that I cannot handle it. I could not finish it. Looked great, tolerable smell, but everything else was a disaster.

A- 12oz bottle pours into a snifter with a deep orange to amber body. The head is a finger high with a creamy texture and fair retention. Very spotty rare lacing.
S- Sourness really pops off in the aroma with a strong lactic acid hit in the forefront. Vinegar, apples, sour/spoiled wine and slight pear with the big sourness.
T- Very, very sour brew with a ton of lactic and plenty of acetic acid on the taste buds. Pucker up because as soon as this hits the palette the sourness is overwhelming and lemons and sour candies come to mind. Fruits in the backdrop with sour apple, sour grape, honey, slight pear and funk notes.
MF- Light-medium bodied with a fairly soft and puffy texture. Carbonation right down the middle with a big time, intense sourness in the finish.
Not my favorite sour of recent memory. I like the blend of lactic and acetic acid and it reminds me of a Flanders but the beer really lacks much else and the overall acidity just hits so hard.

Real good sour. I have had my fill of fruited kettle sours with a lot of lactose. This is a more traditional sour with fruit and sourness, not a potpourri of spices, ginger and lactose. Pours a fairly clear copper color (at first) into a flute glass from a 12 oz bottle. Follow-on pours are more hazy. The head is white, fizzy with almost no retention. No real lacing on the glass either. Other than the color, the appearance is pretty meh!!! Things change with the nose and taste!!!! Plenty of sourness offset by the sweetness of the fruit. The sourness is strong more like pucker-producing than vinegary. The pear (really more general sweet fruit in that pear is a pretty subtle taste) is most noticeable up front with the balance slowly changing towards the sourness. The balance is pretty good but sourness wins out. This is not a "first sour beer" for a newbie!!!!! Mouthfeel is rich with a nice balance between sweet and sour. Very drinkable with no hint of the 7.30% abv. I really enjoyed this beer!!!!
