Three Floyd's Kiosk
Flying Tigersault is a beauty of a pils. The body itself is as dense a golden as you could get. It's deep, bright and polished. The clarity is top notch, my fingerprints can be seen through the body. Streams of carbonation rush through the clarity like a freshly poured glass of bubbly. The foam is rocky and dense and a finger in height on the pour. That finger sticks around for an eternity, falling just a bit and becoming all sorts of craggy. This is a fine looking beverage.
The nose will get the mouth watering instantly. Honeyed biscuit and crackery grains get it moving, they're abundant and clean. There's a sturdy, nay, robust freshly cut grass hop presence. There are undercurrents of apple dumpling. As the beer sits in the glass, and a swirl takes hold, freshly baked bread rises. Fresh, clean, crisp.
The flavor follows the nose stride for stride. Again, that honeyed biscuit and crackery maltiness starts it all off. It's clean as could be. That spicy, robust buzzsaw of grassiness cuts the middle and follows through to the finish. Under the healthy Noble hopping some a soft sweetness of apple dumpling and the heartiness of freshly baked bread. This beer is ultimately clean, well layered, exceptionally hopped, and delicious.
The body is on the lighter side of moderate. Carbonation is lively and effervescent These two characteristics by themselves are delightful but with that added buzzsaw of spicy bitterness, it really puts the feel over the top. This puppy is bone dry and leaves you wanting, needing drink after drink. The mouthfeel of this beer is a bullseye.
Three Floyd's is something else. The flavors they can pull from hops are bar none. Their bold, dark beverages are menacing, rich and dangerous. Then, they go and brew a 4.8% pils that's exceptionally clean, crisp, and well done. It's fresh and bringing a bite. It has a great malt profile, good depth. All this jammed into an insanely drinkable, light abv brew.

Even knowing that their wheelhouse is in the hoppy vein, the brewers at Three Floyds often step outside of their bitter comfort zone and try their hand at another classic style. Their traditional German pilsner takes advantage at the drinker's shifting palate from cooler and darker weather and into something warmer and brighter.
Flying Tigersault comes bright golden and with a pillowy white froth. Fresh kilned grains leap right out as the scent soon rounds with breadiness, citrus and apple notes in the recesses of scent. Floral and spicy, the nose leans toward a brisk and malty taste of lightly toasted grain, faint cashew and fresh baking bread.
As the lager splashes the tongue, its floral character fades and its light lemon and apple medley turns fruity and nearly peach-like. Moderate on the bitter, peppery and grassy side, the beer's taste quickly tightens and crispens into a clean and drinkable finish as hints of sulfur, green tea and lemongrass coat the throat in finish.
Medium light in body but robust in nature for most lagers, the beer's golden body and fuller creamy texture early on allows the beer to fall closely in line with most bohemian or cezch-style lagers of Europe's early industrial revolution. Facilitated with proper bitterness and mild savory character, Three Floyds shows tremendous boldness while using skill and restraint.

12oz on tap, served in a pint glass. Pours a darker caramel body, medium brown hue, one finger white head, good retention, bits of lacing. Looks way too dark for a German Pilsner, stylistically speaking it looks more like an English Bitter. So I had to dock based on appearance. Smell is crisp floral and pine hop aromas, light breadiness. Honestly, at first I thought that they had served me something that was not a pilsner- perhaps something more like an American Pale Ale. A little more breadiness comes out as it warms, but it's still demonstrably hoppy with a bit of cereal, less of the typical Pilsner malt. Flavour is similar; I couldn't have told you definitively that I was drinking a German Pilsner based on this. Drinks more like an American Pale Ale. Caramel, pine, floral, touch of grapefruit, fairly malty but not in the stylistic sense of a Pilsner. Mouthfeel is lighter-medium bodied, good carbonation, slightly sticky. Overall, a weird beer that I think is more of a Bitter rather than a Pilsner. Stylistic considerations aside, this is just a fairly average hoppy beer from Floyds.
