Hazy gold in the glass, topped by a sturdy white head. Refreshing blend of tropical fruit and pine (would love to know the hop profile), long fruit and grain flavor that evolves to a somewhat peppery bitter dry finish. Just a really well-made, well-balanced, substantial IPA.

Pours translucent but cloudy straw with a nice cap of white foam. Fruity sweet melon aroma with biscuit and bitter hop. Taste follows suit, low bitterness, moderate fruity sweetness. Feel is crisp but soft. Good beer.

Pours a hazy amber with a tall head with moderate lacing.

Smells of slightly dank piney hops and sweet fruits.

Tastes of malt, pineapple and apricot upfront with a slightly peppery bitter finish.

Medium light body with the lightest carbonation. Smooth dry mouthfeel.

The sweet and bitter tastes in this brew are mild mannered and well balanced. Delicious!

A cloudy and pulpy looking golden liquid, robust, high-rising all white cap is chunky and lacy.

The Bavarian hops and golden malts smell fruity sweet, golden grainy and husky. Mostly malty sweet and husky herbal tones from the hops.

A super smooth and sky mouthfeel, crisp bite at first actually and then to all smooth texture. Very nice mouthfeel.

The flavor is very much rich in herbal, earthy and golden grainy Bavarian hop vibes. Rustic feel with a lush, golden,smooth malty flavor, slightly sweet but also a bit spicy. Tangy, sour fruits with dashes of spices and golden earthy tones all within. Very delicious, very unique.

"Old Fashioned" IPA indeed!

8/19/21...pours mostly cloudy bright gold with pleasant 1/4 inch white foam cap. Sweet fruity nose, very inviting. Quick bitter pop that mellows fast into a smooth fruity malt blend. Lite pepper kick at the end. Slight resins./ Super smooth. A+

a: slight haze; medium gold in color; 2 finger finely pored ivory head that receded to a thin cap; nice rings of lace;

S: not especially aromatic; what's there is orange, lemon, and pineapple;

T: not especially flavorful either; what's there follows the nose; mild to moderate bitterness at the end;

M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation; moderately dry finish;

O: odd lack of aroma and flavor;

Poured honey amber color (with floaties) and topped with two finger old bone white head that left rings indicating my sips and gulps.
The aroma was faint, very mild. A little pine, a little citrus.
The taste was okay but failed to live up to my expectations for 3Floyds Brewing. Dankness and dry finish was supported by some citrus but the dry finish rather truncated the flavor.
The feel was fine, especially considering the floaties.
Decent beer, wouldn’t turn one down but I don’t think I will seek it out.

3 Floyds Brewing Co. "LazerSnake"
12 fl. oz. can, "PKGD ON04/19/21" and sampled on 08/28/21
$3.29 @ Total Wine & More, Cherry Hill, NJ

Notes via stream of consciousness: I don't even know if I like this name. It seems like the name of an arcade style video game circa 1981. Maybe I'm just too old to appreciate its retro stylings. Anyway, it's a 7% "Indiana pale ale" brewed with locally grown malt and "special Bavarian hops" - how weird. On the other hand, Indiana isn't exactly known for their hops so there's that. It's unfiltered and pours a hazy golden body beneath a full head of rocky white foam that holds quite well. The aroma is citrusy, otherwise tropical, floral, and just the slightest bit piney. To call out some other fruits I'd say orange, nectarine, and pineapple although I have to note that it's not the strongest of aromas, and not really that clear. On to the taste then... a sweetish bready malt comes through clearly, and there's some added mintiness to it that's unusual. I've found that before but I'd say that's not really common. Beyond that it's basically orange/tangerine and peach or nectarine. A stiff bitterness of around 50 IBUs keeps it in check, and it finishes sweetish and bitter at the same time until the malt erodes leaving it dries, minty, and otherwise herbal. In the mouth it's medium bodied and gently crisp and then creamy- smooth across the tongue. All in all it's a decent enough beer with a little bit of a twist to it and the expected maltiness of a Three Floyds beer but it didn't blow me away.

Appearance: Pours a slightly hazy (~20% opacity), medium, bright orange color with some suspended sediment in the glass. A large white head. SRM of 8. (4.25)

Aroma: Moderate aromas of resinous orange, tangerine, ripe pineapple, tropical peach. (3.75)

Flavor: Moderate flavors of orange, peach, pineapple, and some smooth creamsicle and malt flavor on the finish. (4.00)

Feel: Medium-bodied. Moderate carbonation. Soft and creamy on the palate for a smooth finish. (4.25)

Compared to Three Floyd's Foggy Geezer IPA 8/16/21: Pours a similar, slightly brighter color. Similar aromas. Slightly more smooth malty creaminess and less orange and juiciness. Less hop burn and a smoother finish.

Overall: Mixed reviews on this one so wasn't sure what to expect. On one hand it's Three Floyd's so it should be a great IPA. On the other hand, many of the reviewers were dissapointed with this beer. I found this one to have a nice fruity hop profile of resinous orange, pineapple, and stonefruit, but then a creamy malt body. This beer drinks very smooth and I enjoyed that. Downable for 7% ABV. Overall, a smooth and a very drinkable IPA. (Final Rating: 4.03)
