Pours pitch black and completely opaque. Thin mocha colored head dissipates steadily leaving a thin slick of mocha colored bubbles on top of the beer. Beer pours rather viscous.

Smell is a rich aroma of coffee, acidic ground coffee beans, roasted malts and some cocoa. There is also an ashy wood aroma that comes through on the nose.

Taste follows the nose with a ton of coffee and chicory punch the mouth right away. More on the acidic side of things. Tons of sweet vanilla, oak, a hint of bourbon/alcohol, comes through. There is, again, an ashy burnt wood flavor that comes through towards the back end. Sweet vanilla and some bourbon burn come through on the back end of the beer and linger in the mouth.

Feel is medium to full bodied. Very dry throughout. Medium carbonation. There is a bit of burn on the back end indicating a high ABV but its appropriate for a BA stout.

Overall a really nice outstanding BA coffee stout from FFF. Wouldn't mind less of the ashy flavor in the beer, but thats a minor quibble.

A- Jet black with a dark mocha head that dissipates.
S-Great coffee and chocolate.
T-Really good coffee and chocholate. Mocha best describes it. The coffee is barrel aged so you don't get a lot of barrel. There is Barrel but only slightly. For an 11% Stout, you get no booze at all.
F-Medium to thick. If it were a little thicker. It would have set this beer over the top.
Overall- This is one of the best coffee stouts I've ever had. I can't think of a better one to be honest.

Super excited to try this as I am a fan of wigsplitter. Pours medium black with a half finger of dark brown head. Smells like espresso and chocolate. Taste is almost cappuccino-ish.....big coffee, slightly sweet, some roast and lactose qualities. Super drinkability for the abv with just a touch of barrel. Body and carbs are medium. Could be one of the best coffee stouts that I've had.....

Celebrating my 2000th review with this guy while of course listening to the album of the same name. Poured into a Wicked Weed snifter. No freshness date.

A- Pours a fully opaque black color with a 1/4 inch light brown head that retains a bit before becoming a thin ring around the edge of the glass and a swirl of surface foam resembling the Milky Way. Resilient lacing leaves tiny clots behind.

S- Wonderful dark roast iced coffee aroma with a mild but noticeable bourbon presence.

T- Truly excellent coffee character that has just enough sweetness to create my ideal flavor profile. The bourbon character is of high quality as well bringing an extra dimension to the table. So incredibly smooth for the ABV. Nice roasty aftertaste. Additional notes of vanilla, dark chocolate and char.

M- Pretty creamy but could be a bit thicker. Medium-low carbonation and a full body.

O- The coffee is what makes this beer. Just about the highest quality coffee I've encountered in a beer. The bourbon barrel certainly didn't hurt either.

A- Black with coco brown head
S- Premium coffee beans, chocolate
T- Reminds me of fudge batter, in one word "rich", but in a good way. Coffee is present, chocolate, a bit of spiceness.
F- Medium thick (would like just a bit thicker)
O- Great beer. Reminds me of KBS. Supposedly a % of this beer is barrel aged and then blended back with the base, but who knows how much.

Brief Review:

O: Man, I have not been this disappointed by a beer in a long time. This might be my lowest rated beer ever. There is just something off about it, I can't really put my finger on it. Aroma opens up nice, good coffee notes. But the flavor is just off-putting. It's overly bitter. It's cloyingly sweet. The barrel makes it more funky than anything. The flavor is very monotonous and grating. I love 3 Floyds' and most of their beers, but this is a miss.

Recommendation: The name on this beer and style are enough to get people to buy this, and that's fine. But if you're really in a pinch or are deciding between beers on the shelf, I'd avoid this.

Look is pitch black and poured with a finger plus of tan head.

Aroma is coffee, chocolate and bourbon/oak.

Taste is dark roast coffee, chocolate and a good amount of oak.

Feel is veloptious, thick, full and creamy.

Overall a fantastic stout. While I do love me some BBB and variants, this one is better hands down. Gorgeous, creamy, full and balanced, it isn't going to get much better for a coffee stout.
