L: hazy gold amber under a lacy 2" cream colored cap with good retention

S: Rich grassy malt aromas rise from the glass joined by bread crust and bread crumb. There are definite caramel notes, tropical fruit, citrus, a faint hint of must and traces of sulfur.

T: Caramel and treacle flavored by tropical fruit and citrus lightly sweeten a malty palate with bread crumb and bread crust that leads to an assertive bitter finish

F: The beer is rich and very creamy creamy with a medium to medium full body and very soft medium low carbonation. There is mild alcohol warming.

O: The beer has a big malt presence but is well balanced by the hops resulting in a very drinkable, flavorful American IPA.

Finger plus of just off-white foam, fairly even surface with good density as well as retention as a thick coating, the lacing forms nice broad sheets with plus level stickiness. Completely cloudy and silty yellow orange colored liquid with only a few random bubbles visible, plenty of stuff floating inside. Extremely thick and pungent nose of coconut oil, butterscotch, marmalade and orange reduction, pink grapefruit pulp and then on to pineapple, papaya, mango and guava fruit, highly tropical, gluey pine sap, then a bracing shot of tar and asphalt. Full-bodied and close to immobile, feels like a weight on the tongue. The carbonation can only add prickle at the sides of the tongue. Tar, fallen autumn leaves, India rubber and damp earth make the initial impression. The vast piney qualities keeps the sweetness at bay but eventually the caramel, dough and malted milk balls even the score. Less tropical here but still mainly pineapple, guava and some apple and peach. The pink grapefruit to lime citrus recedes some here too. Made in the relentless house style, however, lacking in a clear idea of what it wants to achieve. Still, enjoyable for the sheer bombast.

From a 22oz bottle with no date oddly.

It is a cloudy/unfiltered dark orange color with a thick, pillowing dirty white to tan head.

The aroma is a lot of orange, caramelized sugars and malts, and a hint of ginger or a baking spice.

The flavor is mostly tangerine with a significant caramel malt base. More bitterness and pithy peel toward the end. It is kind of earthy/musty with an almost peat moss taste. Probably citra hops? There is an underlying baking spice.

This tastes like a winter warmer mixed with an ipa. It’s alright, but one and done for me.

Picked up a single bottle at The Keg, New Albany IN. Bottled 9-9-17.

A: Deep gold and orange, decent head, decent carbonation.

S: Malt smells overpower the usual IPA smells. It smells like fall, bready and dead-leafy. Caramel, slight citrus peel.

T: Interesting. This really mashes up the styles. Caramel malt mixes right in with the the orange peel and grapefruit. The citrus hangs on in the aftertaste. This is a really good taste for IPA drinkers who want a hint of a fall or winter beer, really more than a hint but very balanced. No taste of alcohol, dangerous if you don't realize the ABV.

F: Weird I guess. It's what it is, it's a little crisp and a little thick, finish represents what the taste promises, not a sweaty day IPA but right on for a fall season beer, which is kinda strange for a year round beer. I guess don't drink it cutting the grass lol.

O: Not a great beer, but a very good beer. It's a good one for around the fire-pit or bonfire. Would drink again.

Bottled 2/22/17. Did not realize it was an IPA. Nice orange color and haze. Minimal head. Lacks freshness (obviously) and overall hop presence. I would recommend buying fresh.

Bottled 07/06/17

Appearance - Pours hazy and golden orange in color with an off-white, finger width head.

Smell - Strong aroma of orange peel and caramel.

Taste - One-two combo punch of some citrus character met by an almost equal amount of deep caramel malt base. Citrus hits on notes of orange and grapefruit upfront, then gets a bit sweeter in the finish with a tangerine character that powers past the mid-taste that sees caramel take a brief hold of the reigns. Nice, balanced bittersweet finish, with lingering orange pith hanging around in the aftertaste.

Mouthfeel - Medium-bodied with fair carbonation. Slick, easy drinker with a smooth, refreshing finish.

Overall - A really nicely balanced IPA. Love that citrus/caramel combo. Maybe my favorite 3 Floyd's offering.

Not sure what this beer is. Is it a dry hopped scotch ale? I purchased it with the intention of it being a scotch ale but found it forgettable as both a malt heavy IPA or a dry hopped scotch ale. Lets all be honest here and say we all buy these for the kick ass label art.
