Notes / Commercial Description:
This beer is brewed during the hop harvest with a portion of unkilned or “wet” hops fresh off the vine. Apricot in color, Broo Doo’s nose has dominant orange, pine sap and floral notes, balanced by a glazed nut and toffee malt body. This celebration of the hop harvest has intense tropical fruit, citrus and spicy accents that showcase the complexity of the hops we all love.

Bottle pour at Woodshop 8 held at The Hermosillo in Los Angeles, CA.

Thanks to drewone for sharing this one.

Pours a clear orange with a foamy bone head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, citrus fruit, and citrus zest aromas. Taste is much the same with citrus zest and spicy herbal hop flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with a nice spicy hop presence that comes through more in the flavor.

22oz bomber from the 2013 vintage. Poured into a FFF teku glass today, 10/27/2013.

Review #257.

Pours a beautiful clear-ish orange-copper body, with a very fluffy white head that fills up the last 2-3cm of the teku glass.. and retains a bit too well! Leaves tons of soapy lacing on the side of the glass.. and the head recedes eventually into a thick white film on top of the glass.

Smells outrageously hoppy.. not exactly intense, but just a lot of hoppiness is going on here without much hint of the malt backbone. Very dank, rather piney with a complementary amount of grapefruit and tangerine bite.

Also tastes hoppy as heck- begins with a nice pine flavour up front, with some tangerine supplementing the pine. There is a small bit of breadiness, biscuits even, all in the middle but not a ton.. just enough to make this have some semblance of balance. Near the end there is a nice, strong piney bitterness that isn't too overwhelming. This beer is entirely hop driven, which is no surprise with Three Floyds.

Medium bodied, not particularly resinous but not watery either. Smooth, good carbonation, piney bitterness leaves the palate quite dry. Refreshing.

Very hoppy as hell IPA, typical from Three Floyds. Its "wet", smells dank and tastes very hoppy. This is what I expected from a FFF wet hopped IPA, and it doesn't disappoint. They won't surprise you if you know this, and well that's quite alright by me.

2013 vintage.

A. Dark copper color. Poured a 1 finger head that retreats to a fine bubble rim. Excellent lacing - typical of 3f.

S. Fresh hops, grapefruit, apricot, tangerine, pine and resin. Very balanced between fruit and pine.

T. Slightly bitter. As with the nose a nice balance between citrus/tropic fruit and pine from the hops. Light malts.

M. Super clean and smooth. High carbonation. Medium body.

O. Very hoppy but also very smooth. A very balanced hop profile. Im not a hop head and I prefer citrus to pine but this delivers in a very balanced way. I assume freshness has a part to play in the score of this ale. If you can get this, you should purchase. Another great vintage from 3f.
