3 Floyds Brewing Co.
Indiana, United States

Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 7.00%

Notes / Commercial Description:
This beer is brewed during the hop harvest with a portion of unkilned or “wet” hops fresh off the vine. Apricot in color, Broo Doo’s nose has dominant orange, pine sap and floral notes, balanced by a glazed nut and toffee malt body. This celebration of the hop harvest has intense tropical fruit, citrus and spicy accents that showcase the complexity of the hops we all love.

22oz bottle poured into a tulip. Pours a transparent golden with a fluffy eggshell white head that fades slowly and leaves great lacing and retention. Wonderful looking brew. The aromas have alot of berries and pine sap. Lemon and lime zest is there. Hints of grapefruit rind and other citrus notes. Subtle hints of soap. Very subtle hints of sweet malts. The flavors are extremely sharp and crisp. Tons of lemon and lime. Lots of pine needles. More grapefruit. It's like you can taste the vine. The malts seem to take a backseat in the flavor department, but they're still there to slightly cut down on the hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is wonderful. It's medium-bodied and extremely light and smooth; carbonation is active, but subtle. Very smooth. Alcohol goes unnoticed. It's very fun and easy to drink.

This is a very nice wet-hopped IPA. I hate to say this beer doesn't remind me of what I recalled from the past, but it doesn't. I don't mean that in a negative way at all though. It's good! This beer is well crafted and very enjoyable.

At the brewpub shared some brews with kevanb and his pop. Poured transparent orange. Nice sticky head and great lacing. Smell is fresh hop. Wet and dank. Super enjoyable. Great beer super tasty. Great freshness and great mouth feel...fresh hop is wonderful.

Edit 10/8/14 bottle: uber fresh but the thing that stands out is the drinkability. Upped that from a 4 to 4.5 and taste from 4.25 to 4.5. Really a great beer!
