Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 7.00%

Availability: Fall

Notes / Commercial Description:
This beer is brewed during the hop harvest with a portion of unkilned or “wet” hops fresh off the vine. Apricot in color, Broo Doo’s nose has dominant orange, pine sap and floral notes, balanced by a glazed nut and toffee malt body. This celebration of the hop harvest has intense tropical fruit, citrus and spicy accents that showcase the complexity of the hops we all love.

Big want! Cheers, Steasy66!!

Appearance. Pours amber-gold with a little haze and a finger of thick white head. Really great lacing. Pretty much everything I'd want an ipa to look like.

Smell. Nice citrus rinds (oranges especially) and some tropical fruits, sweet light malts.

Taste. Big citrus fruits again, pineapple, quite juicy. Some decent malty sweetness but nothing excessive. Very nice.

Mouthfeel. Medium body, below medium carbonation, quite creamy. Pretty much bang on.

Overall. All that and a bag of rooby tonez. Seriously, great stuff. Thanks Ryan!!

Serving: 22 oz. bomber poured into a Founder's Harvest Party glass. Bottled on 9/25/14, making it just under 6 weeks old.

A: Very clear, golden-yellow. 1/4-finger foamy white head lingers.

S: Curious to know what hops they use for this, but I'm getting a lot of Citra. Pineapple, mango, tangerine, some pine. Very nice.

T: Big tropical fruits. Pineapple, mango, apricot, some grapefruit. Barely a hint of malt sweetness on the finish.

M: Big and full-bodied for an IPA. Perfectly carbonated.

O: I have not had Surly Wet, but this, right now, is my favorite wet-hopped/harvest ale. This is fantastic. I'm getting a lot of Citra vibes, and this almost feels like Zombie Dust if it were an IPA instead of a Pale Ale. Founder's Harvest Ale is great, but sometimes a little too aggressive for me, and the hop profile is not my favorite. This one is a little more simple and straightforward, and nicely balanced.

Recommendation: A must-try for any hophead if you can find it. Drink it as fresh as possible! Would have loved to have this a little closer to its bottled on date.
