A Märzen-style fest bier brewed with the finest German malted barley, aromatic Bavarian noble hops and traditional lager yeast. This rich, malty lager is one of the few that remain true to the tradition of fest beers originally brewed to honor the marriage of Prince Ludwig in 1810. We hope you enjoy this fall offering. Appearance: A nice dark amber with a good off white head a solid two fingers thick.
Aroma: Roasted hop, caramel malt, biscuity, and nicely bready.
Taste: Smooth on the pallet. Slightly sticky. Bready malt, molasses notes with good roasted hop.
Overall: Such a great style and certainly a buy again. Prost.

Name: Munsterfest
Brewery: 3 Floyds Brewing
Location: Munster IN
Style: Marzen

I am drinking Munsterfest today using a Marzen glass. I served it at 44 degrees. The pour created an airy, foamy, creamy three-fingered, light tan head with above-average retention. The color is dark golden with pale amber hues, charting around S.R.M. 10. The beer is clear with carbonation bubbles. The dissipation left lots of lacing on the glass. The appearance is above average for this style.
The aromas are caramel, bready, low florals, caramel, malty sweetness, yeasty, and lightly toasted biscuit. The malty aromas are clean with a malty richness.
A massive, malty presence with a malty sweetness. I taste toasted bread, biscuity, medium floral esters, earthiness, grassy, caramel, and a soft white pepper finish.
The mouthfeel is smooth and creamy, finishing somewhat dry. The body is medium and has medium carbonation.
The beer's malty profile speaks to the crafting of this beer, a balanced beer thanks to the hop addition. I would like to get a six-pack of this for fall. I have a fondness for Marzen beer. I am glad I finally got to try this beer.

From the bottle, it pours a clear darker amber color with a thick, long lasting light tan/off white head. Lacing. The nose gets a bready, malty scent. The mouth gets a dose of caramel and then bready malt.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a clear amber-copper color with a small head of puffy white foam. The head fades rather fast leaving a touch of streaky lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is heavy of a bready and malty aroma mixed with lots of caramel and a bit of harvest fruit of apple and pear. Along with these smells comes a light yeasty and toffee smell as well as a bit of hay.
Taste – The taste begins with a sweet bready and doughy malt flavor paired with a lot of caramel and toffee sweetness. There is a light earthy hop upfront, which gets slightly stronger as the taste advances. At the same time a touch of apple joins in and a little bit of yeastiness comes along for the ride. With a slight decrease in the malt at the finish of the flavor transition, one is left with a still rather malty and sweet, but well balanced Märzen flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is medium to slightly thicker for the abv. in body with a carbonation level that is moderate. For the style and the tastes, the feel is quite nice creating a nice body to support the sweet and malty, but still making it very easy drinking.
Overall – A quite nice Märzen. Malty and sweet, but balanced and very approachable. Well crafted.

The pour is copper colored with a meager amount of carbonation. The taste is crisp, sweet rich malt with a touch of caramel. Cheers! B

Best in class. Though the style often leans a bit too sweet for me, this one is superbly balanced. Disclaimer, I have fallen away from the hoppy beers and i've gone towards more balanced beers and continue to seek this one out because of that. A must try for balanced lager aficionados! Taste has quintessential notes of autumn, like harvests of apples, grass, faint floral. Bounces back between slighty sweet and balanced. However, my bottle is dated mid august and at 4 months probably lost a bit of the astringency from hops. Seek out fresh and this is near perfection for style!
I have reviewed this twice. I guess to do that you have to delete the old review, which proves my point in this is worthy enough to seek out. CHEERS!

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. Pours red orange with a small white head. Smells of caramelized grain, sweet bread, and fruit. Tastes of bright fruit and some caramelized grain. Beer is light bodied and easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall, a very good beer.

12 ounce bottle poured into a dimpled mug.
L: Dark amber and cloudy, 1” off-white head, foam has good retention.
S: Rich bead malt, pie crust and light spice.
T: Nice malt flavor to open, spicy and herbal hops to finish, a little orange peel, fairly dry overall but not sharp.
F: Medium body, smooth and a little slick, moderately carbonated.
O: Nice malt to hop balance, malty to open but not sweet, nice Marzen.

Well of course these folks make a good fest beer for October ... Frankly, I was hoping for a little bit more, but it's pretty decent.... A little too sweet for my pallet but I had higher hopes from such a great brewer
