2019 bottle. Near black, small beige head, not much retention or lacing. Nose showing strawberry and roasted coffee with some whisky. Taste desert like again with strawberry and coconut but brings the booze and port notes. The heavy body works well with the sweetness.

Had on tap. Pitch black with a brown ring. The most impressive aspect of this one is how the strawberry was huge and fresh, just dances on the port whiskey, oak, vanilla, chocolate and coconut in the nose. Taste however the strawberry gets overpowered slowly by the barrel in particular, sweet but never cloys, chocolate with coconut finishes, it seems more segregated as it warms. Feel is surprisingly balanced, lighter bodied, still DL sweet with texture from the adjuncts abounding, yet plenty thick. Whimsical

Kind of disappointed. The color is absolutely beautiful, but the strawberries were muted and overall not the distinct flavors I was craving. A nice attempt and hopefully the cognac version is better.

This one pours a very very dark black color, with a small head, and basically no lacing.
This smells decadent as all get out - with chocolate-covered strawberry fudge, coconut, port, dark fruit, molasses, chocolate fudge, syrup, and oak.
As this is a Dark Lord variant - this is massive and dumb. Despite the idiocy, it's a really delicious beer. It's quite sweet, but somehow not as sweet as the actual base beer, despite the port barrel and the coconut + neapolitan aspect of the beer. You get basically all of the added flavorings here, as there's a definitive strawberry jam flavor, with sweet creamy coconut, vanilla frosting, cherry-ish port flavors, chocolate fudge, super light roast, and molasses sweetness.
This is thick and pretty syrupy, with a heavy sweetness that necessitates slow sipping, and a small pour. There's basically no booziness at all.
This is a really inventive and delicious variant - it should easily stand up to the some of the more well regarded variants.

2019 vintage; drank 6/22/19 @ Golgi Apparatus.
Strong strawberry presence in the nose & flavor; however, this wasn't cloying & actually blended well with the base Dark Lord beer. Not transcendent, but very, very good.

Pours pitch black, thin tan head dissipates quickly. Nose is red wine, dark fruits, chocolate, sweet vanilla, alcohol notes, whips of strawberry, bourbon. Taste is rich sweet milk chocolate, berries, vanilla, warming bourbon. Thick sticky beer. Overall, this is excellent. I’d call it variant of the year.

Sweet swirling chocolate covered strawberry is the predominant flavor here, as the firm fine carbonation kicks up a mild Neapolitan exhale, but this is much sweeter than I'd want, with a stickier finish than the Loadstar next to it. I found the coconut more present in the Loadstar, and this variant to be a bit thinner. I think if they do this again next year it could be deadly as they dial it in. Although Dark Lord tends to have a strong chocolate flavor to it at times, it didn't translate as well here.

Wow, Neapolitan DL with toasted coconut. Tried it at DLD along with Lone Star, FVM, Chemtrail Mix and BBA. All of the Variants were amazing. I love the addition of toasted coconut. Really Good!!!
