A throwback historical ale brewed when English IPA's were hopped up to last the long voyage from England to Colonial troops in India, using English malts, English hops, English yeast and aged slightly on toasted oak for a 19th century taste.

Poured into my GI tulip.
A - A lively copper orange with a trail of carbonation going upwards. Has a thick, 2 finger head on top which is the color of ivory. Really one beautiful looking beer from this one.
S - Smell is a big whiff of pine hops with hints of apricot hiding behind it. The apricots add a unique twist to the normal hops smell that I see in IPAs. There is enough malt in there to give the beer a hint of a sweet and candied smell. One heck of a nose.
T - At first the beer doesn't seem to have much hop punch as you are initially greeted with a hint of sweetness but then out of the blue, you get whammed by a hops that make you almost want to pucker. However at the end there is a hint of sweet apricot that comes up on the backend to keep the hops from becoming overbearing. They also do a great job of hiding the alcohol so that it only comes up as a warming effect after the beer goes.
MF - Light carbonation and the body is also a bit thinner than I would have liked. There is a slight stickness to it and it leaves a nice resin residue on the tongue, which leaves almost a slick feeling on the tongue.
D - Overall a quality offering from FFF that is easy to drink and well balanced. It is tasty and would definitely consider buying some more. The English IPA style also seems to be one that I don't find often enough. Good Solid Beer.

Just simply a wonderful beer. Definitely not a session brew -- this one is for sipping and enjoying more slowly. For all the hops it boasts, it also possesses outstanding balance.

Copper colored with a half inch of creamy and dense tan head. The aroma is of a hint of smoke and earthy hops. The flavor presents bold earthy hops, smoke, and finishes with a touch of vegetation and coppery and slightly dark malt. The mouth is dry, lightly resinous and sticky.

Burnt amber with a white foam that dies to a thin blanket leaving bumpy lace.
Smell is corn, grapefruit, lime and fruity apple, with taste bringing graham, grapefruit, spicy pine and green tea via a frothy, crisp body and dry finish.

Haven't had an English IPA in a while. Nice malty flavor with a nicely balanced bitterness but no pine or spruce. Very refreshing with a nice effervescence and a long finish.
