Notes: This strong, Baltic-style Porter has a rich, velvety mouthfeel with notes of bakers chocolate and molasses.

22oz Bomber
Three Floyd's Brewpub

This Satanic bitch dumps from the bottle the color of my soul, black and eager to usurp any light naïve enough to circle it's orbit. Sticky beige lace coats the glass in overlapping pentagrams that would make Aleister Crowley cower. There's no chance of removing those, they've already taken hold.

Forbidden fruit. Adam made his decision and plowed through the blackberries and figs without abandon. As a glutton he proceeds to the fermenting and alcoholic, overripe fruit at the base of the bush. Waking in the morning, the previous night nearly forgotten, Adam finds a molasses like stickiness covering his chin. He feels shame. Reaching to the closest bushes he grabs coffee and tea leaves to cover himself.

Eve returns, now covered in the same tea leaves, two shells in her hand full of brooding liquid. Coffee beans and blackberries fighting to the surface, even they drown here. Her dead eyes look past Adam and hand over a shell, he takes a hungry gulp, the molasses sweetness mingles with the Satanically comforting roast. Forbidden everything, but now comforting, in this terrible place.

It's no longer sunny. The tea leaves are bitter. A swallow seems to cure the insatiable thirst, briefly, before the sandstorm returns. There's alcohol enough for brief euphoria and sleep. Waking up parched, confused, and highly satisfied....

Satan's subordinate, The Topless Wytch, will take advantage of you like she has me. She's soothing, reassuring, and persuasive. She's known as Eve in the Middle East and will steal your soul. You'll try and stop but there's no chance now. Just give in. Eternity isn't that long...

Served in a snifter at Durty Nellie's.

It's hard to believe that it's been over a year since I last had this brew at the 2010 DLD. How time flies... Anyway, it pours a solid obsidian topped by a finger of tan foam. The nose comprises roasted malts, molasses, dark chocolate, burnt toffee, and cocoa powder. The taste holds notes of roasted malts, bitter dark chocolate, yogurt (straight plain, y'all), flowers, pine, light mint, and balsa. Somehow, all of these components combine to form a nice, hoppy-ish Baltic porter. The body is a solid medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a pretty dry finish. Overall, a very nice Baltic porter, one that shows that you can add some hops to the style without completely ruining it.

A - Mohagany beer with a khaki head that left fat lace on the sides.

S - Smoke, coffee, roasted malt, dark and unsweetened chocolate. Unlike most baltics, this one focuses more on the roast aspect and less on sweetness. Quite nice.

T - Roast, a little sour lactose sugar, some dark fruit, bitter notes, and cold coffee. Taste is good but not as good as the nose.

M - Full bodied with lively carbonation and a puckering finish.

O - Good beer. Like it more than a lot of baltic porters and would drink again.

This had a dense thick foamy head that had true staying power and the body is a completely black hue.

The nose is chocolate malt, roasted coffee, toasted malts, tea leaf and tobacco.

The flavor is dry chocolate malt, kind of rubbery and vastly underwhelming.

The feel is very dry, smooth and light.

This was leading it's way to being a remarkable ale until I actually tasted it and found it to be lethargic and boring.
