Style: American Double / Imperial IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 11.00%

Availability: Summer

Notes / Commercial Description:
9.5-11.0% ABV, 100 IBUs - This complex double India pale ale has an intense citrus and floral hop aroma balanced by a velvety malt body which has been augmented with lactose milk sugar. With this different take on an IPA we have brewed an ale that is both pleasing to drink and, once again, “not normal.” Cheers! June release.

This thing is like having a hop bomb go off in your mouth if that hop bomb was combined with a sweet, citrusy, thick syrup. My god this is delicious.

22 ounce bottle into a tulip glass. Bottled 6/13/17, had 7/11/17.

Pours a hazy orange, with a one and a half inch foamy head and lots of foamy lacing. A really nice looking pour. Smells of citrus hops- orange, tangerine, grapefruit. Also pineapple, some lactose and cream, light yeast and malt, a bit of a floral aroma. The taste is also citrus hops at first- more grapefruit than the nose, orange, some tangerine, malt, pineapple, some caramel. A shot of lactose up front, then it fades. Some hop bitterness. A sweet note on the finish. Smooth, creamy- although maybe not as much as I expected, a solid medium body, well carbonated.

A very good DIPA, first and foremost, with really good flavor and a really nice hop/malt balance. The lactose is a solid addition, even if it ran away from the taste. Good price point, very enjoyable, well worth a purchase.

Poured from 22oz bottle into glass. Stamped bottling date appears to be 6-15-17.
Slightly hazy body is reddish, dark amber color. Creamy two finger white head settles to thick cap. Extensive lacing.
Combination of piney and citrus hop aroma, with biscuit malt. The sweetness in the taste also is in the aroma.
Taste is sweet from the lactose, Mango, pineapple floral, piney at the back end. A very slight hop bitterness at the very end, but very slight. ABV is well hidden.
Mouth feel is full and creamy, medium carbonation.
A different take on a DIPA. Very smooth and easy to drink. Sweeter than others of its ilk.
Seldom seen on the shelf in western Wisconsin. Got this at Casanova's in Hudson. Certainly a treat, and will be purchased again when available.

Poured from a 22 oz. bottle into a Three Floyds pint glass.

Appearance: Pours a hazy amber orange. Moderate amount of bubbles and a solid finger of off white head that settles into a thin creamy layer.

Smell: A very juicy and earthy hop driven aroma with a scent of citrus and pine. Upfront citrus hop scent of orange peel, grapefruit, mango, tangerine, papaya, and apricot along with pineapple. Earthy hop scent of pine and grass. Malt hints of caramel, grains, and cracker along with some yeast. Sweet hints of lactose. A very good aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a juicy and earthy taste with notes of citrus and pine. Citrus hop notes of grapefruit, orange peel, mango, apricot, tangerine, and papaya along with pineapple. Earthy hop notes of pine and grass. Malt notes of caramel, cracker, and grains with yeast. Some sweet notes of lactose sugar. A very good juicy taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium to full bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Juicy and fairly creamy. 11% is hidden very well.

Overall: A very good Double IPA. Good juicy citrus flavor. The lactose adds a nice touch.

L: A peach apricot color, slight off white lacing of head, not big or thick

S: Piney hops, smells thicker with a heaviness to it, hints of mango

T: Peppery, flowery, apricot, mellow taste not bursting, sweeter than your normal IPA with a rich sweet pine finish

F: A full bodied beer that has a thick protein feel to it

O: Overall this beer is above average. I got it as a gift and would have again if on tap not sure I'd buy a bottle of this though.

Bottled 6/17/2017, poured into tulip glass.
Pours soft orange with red highlights. One finger head leaves good lacing. Clementines, honey, sweet grapefruit on the nose. Tropical fruit, mango, papaya, some bitter grapefruit pith, honey sweetness. Slick, velvety body. The light carbonation and mouthfeel work perfectly together. Overall, it's a little sweet, I'd prefer more bitterness. Still very enjoyable.

Had on tap. Pours hazy, orange brown in color with minimal head. Taste is orange, mango, light lactose, and grapefruit. Heavy bodied, low carbonation, and slightly bitter. Nice and juicy. Makes for an excellent sipper. May be my favorite from the brewery.
