BEER INFO

Style: American Double / Imperial IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 11.00%

Availability: Summer

Notes / Commercial Description:
9.5-11.0% ABV, 100 IBUs - This complex double India pale ale has an intense citrus and floral hop aroma balanced by a velvety malt body which has been augmented with lactose milk sugar. With this different take on an IPA we have brewed an ale that is both pleasing to drink and, once again, “not normal.” Cheers! June release.

Poured from a 22oz bomber into a tulip glass. No dating info but this was a June release and the store manager, whom I trust, said it was pretty fresh. It was a very hazy orange color with lots of carb streams. It had a good sized off-white head that settled into a thick collar and film. Good amounts of slow sliding lace with lots sticking.

The aroma was excellent. Grapefruit, pine, mango, pineapple and some floral representing the hop team with good sweet malt and lactose on the malt side. Really liked the hoppy/sweet mix on this one. That's a hard balance to get but it did it. The taste followed the aroma and again had great hoppy/sweet balance. Starts out a bit sweet then the hop kick in and take over and then they drop just a little at the end as the sweet comes back a little. Really good aftertaste. Could be a little less sweet but not bad as is. Full body and chewy with great carb and aftertaste.

Overall, a really good DIPA and another winner from 3F. I still think Dreadnaught is near perfection but this is a good one to get as well. Glad I finally got to try it after seeing the early reviews on it. Highly recommend. Not available here in TX so shipped back from my Indy trip. Rotation - if avail near me this would make the regular DIPA rotation for sure. Must try on tap. For now, this will be in the care package shipments that I get from my dad for sure. [R;Y;ship]
