BEER INFO

Style: American Double / Imperial IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 11.00%

Availability: Summer

Notes / Commercial Description:
9.5-11.0% ABV, 100 IBUs - This complex double India pale ale has an intense citrus and floral hop aroma balanced by a velvety malt body which has been augmented with lactose milk sugar. With this different take on an IPA we have brewed an ale that is both pleasing to drink and, once again, “not normal.” Cheers! June release.

Sweet smell and even sweeter taste masks the bitterness of the labeled 100 IBUs and the higher Abv. I get a hint of peach preserves strangely enough. This beer, simply oh, works. Good IPA

Hazy orange with a large, fluffy dense khaki meringue head, almost like it's on nitro.

Smell is herbal, green pine, with orange, lime, and apple.

Taste is a big bitter catty bite of musty rug, that thankfully fades to the background behind pine, toast, grapefruit and orange, which are bright but bitter as well. A crisp citrus tang almost gives a tart accent from time to time. The lactose does not seem to make a huge contribution to me.

Feel is dry, soft and frothy.

L- Opaque amber color. Decent pillowy head with a lot of lacing.

S- A little pineapple, though it's not that strong.

T- A lot maltier than I expected. Fruity sweetness. Not much bitterness.

F- Medium, fairly heavy for an IPA. Dry finish.

O- I wanted to like this beer given the awesome name. It's just alright though. A bit too sweet, and not nearly as hoppy as I would expect given the IBU's.

One of the smoothest IPAs I've ever had. Enjoyed it on draft and was not disappointed. A creamy mouth feel on the finish with a lot of solid citrus flavor at the star. I'm definitely going to pick up a bottle or two now.
