Dark chestnut with a ruddy hue and two-plus fingers of airy mocha head. The head dissipates fairly quickly leaving a thick, messy crown and some spotty lacing, which in turn dissipate further into nothing but the liquid.

Smells like a cross between a Guinness and milk stout. Lots of carbon dioxide and a little nuttiness.

The taste again Is like a nutty light stout, but with strong smokey pepper flavor behind. The spiciness and heat from the pepper seems somewhat restrained at first, but it grows with time. The subdued chocolate character is dry and lightly bitter — like old, stale Bakers chocolate. Dry, smoky finish.

Relatively thin and slightly slick feeling.

Not really to my taste. Lots of depth to the smokey pepper, but presented over a very lackluster base. Higher quality chocolate and malts may have improved this. Gave it okay marks for the excellent pepper elements.

This beer, has got to be one of their more innovative and ambitious brews.

Dark, earthy, beautiful head.

This beer, is one of their Amonanarth inspired lines. It was brewed with peppers, chocolate, and love.

The first pull I took from the bottle it caught me off guard, the mixture of that initial bite of chipotle pepper, chocolate, and malt. After experiencing the first drink - it just got better and more complex.

Give it a try, I’m a traditionalist when it comes to dark beer - but Skoll redefined my pallet. Skoll scared me for a moment, and I liked it.

Pours as black as any beer I've seen. Nice mocha colored head.

Smell is chocolate with a hint of peppers.

Full bodied creamy feel.

Taste is chocolate, subtle oak, and just the right amount of heat from the peppers.

Love it!

Sweet chocolate with a bit of tobacco notes and a pepper heat on the finish. Solid brew at its price point.

Muddy brown to matte black with a moderate creamy tan head settling to a curled collar leaving some soft arms of lacing.

This brew actually features roasty malt first and foremost, but pleasantly so, with accents of smoky tobacco, cigar papers and ash. It's almost chewy dry, but then a light chocolateyness--both sweet dark chocolate and bitter cacao--ease it up a bit. The medium round body has a very faint hint of chipotle spice, but without much added flavor.

Overall, Sköll is impressively roasty, smoky and woody while being balanced enough to be quite enjoyably drinkable.

Pours black with attractive tan head that retains abundant foam and lacing. The aroma is faint, giving a hint of cocoa, pepper, and malt. The taste is a base of a somewhat boring porter that quickly becomes dominated by spicy guajillo and chipotle pepper with a touch of cocoa nibs on the finish. It is spicy to be sure, but not outrageously so. There is something flat about the flavor profile. The honey doesn’t impart enough sweetness. Perhaps a sweeter Mexican chocolate or maple, or adding cinnamon or vanilla would pull it all together. The oak becomes more noticeable as it warms. The mouthfeel is creamy and quite nice. Overall a fine experiment and fun to drink once. But it isn’t something I would seek out again.

Poured from a bottle into a tulip glass. Pours a very dark brown with a good light brown head and decent lacing. Smell of chocolate and fresh peppers, taste follow these. Medium feel. Good beer and decent porter. Would like to try on draft.

Bottled 1/13/20; drank 2/16/20 @ the Yarchives.

Black appearance.

An even pour yielded a huge tan head; frothy lace.

Fresh earth, oak, mild citrus hops, mild honey & faint pepper heat in the nose.

Creamy, medium mouthfeel.

Fresh earth, mild cream & faint strawberry flavors up front; honey, mild pepper heat on the finish.

A lot going on, but overall it's muted and not great. One is enough...permanently.
