Very Good
Rabbid RabbitRabbid Rabbit
Notes: 7.4% ABV, 25 IBUs - This Franco-Belgian style Farmhouse Ale has an effervescent body and a light straw color. Rabbid Rabbit, with it’s light malt body, augmented by spices, is a complex and frothy beverage with a deceptively high alcohol content. March release.

22 ounce bottle. Served in an oversized wine glass, the beer pours a clear golden orange color with a very small white head which went away very quickly. No lacing at all. The aroma is very sweet, it smells like cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, candy sugar and orange. Taste is sweet and spicy, it tastes pretty much the same way it smells except for the addition of some apricot and apples. Mouthfeel/body is medium and creamy, with a good bit of carbonation. Drinkability is good, it goes down very smooth and easy. The 9% ABV isn't very noticable. It's not exactly a traditional saison, but I'm not complaining! Overall I think it's a good and solid beer.

Three Floyds Rabbid Rabbit Saison
750 ml bottle
Moderate pour in a tulip glass
Recent brewing, enjoyed 06/07

Poured a clear amber with a moderate fizzy white mostly diminishing head.

Smelt of moderate caramel, white cake and apricot, banana bread, and honey.

Taste was upfront sweet and bitter spice cake, with moderate sweet apricot and candi sugar followed by a strong bittersweet spice cake and candi sugar on a long spicy finish.

Palate was medium bodied, creamy, lively but softly carbonated, and lightly astringent.

Overall, the flavor here is amazing. It definitely reminds me of a spice cake with citrus rinds. Lots of candi sugar (I think). Reminds me of honey in a way too. Very nice complex malty American take on a saison. Very different from the traditional Belgian style though.

22oz bottle poured into tulip - thanks to drpdaddy

Pours a clouded golden yellow color, thinner layer of white head rests on top. Some rings of lacing are left behind, nice filmy retention as well.

Some floral hoppy notes in the nose with lemon peel and faint spice. A bit herbal and sweet at the same time, notes of sugar and slight funk. Soft touch of alcohol.

Nice floral hops and soft bitterness up front. Touches of chamomile and herb with some spice. Light citrus notes and sugar sweetness from the rock candy, but not out of control. Plenty of Belgian yeast tones and light funk. Finishes with a note of bitterness and nearly invisible alcohol.

Medium body, nice carbonation, a little creamy, pretty smooth on the tongue. Pretty solid saison which seems to ride the line between sweet and funky.

Appearance: Poured into a Chimay Goblet - nice 1 inch head that quickly dissipated into virtually nothing. Not a prob lets get to the tasting...

Smell: All I can say is earthy - sweetly earthy - not likened to the Belgian Saisons...

Taste: Definitely a Saison (or is this a Tripel). The Malt and Sweetnedd reminds me of Tripel Karmeliet - and that is a good thing for me...

Mouthfeel: Decent carbonation - but more and more getting a bit sweet and sticky...

Drinkability: I could drink many of these - not as good as what Dupont has to offer but these guys know what they are doing and this is a great american interpretation...

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass.

A - Pours bright orange in color with not much of a head, which is not surprising considering the high alcohol content. Still, carbonation seems to be a bit lacking.

S - Initially, this smells very grassy, likely from the hops. A subdued sweetness is also present in the form of dark fruits and a lot of cherry. Alcohol is also very apparent.

T - Nice! Starts off with a mild spice, clove and cinnimon, and transitions into a nice candy-like medium malt. The grassy hops are there, but not all that heavy. Alcohol, despite what my nose told me, doesn't dominate the taste as I was expecting. All in all, fairly light in flavor, but still good.

M - Medium bodied, but the lack of carbonation really hurts it here.

D - Good. Nice flavor and not overbearing. Easy drinker.

Poured into my pint glass the beer is a fairly clear golden yellow with tints of orange. The bone white head is a full inch of pillowy fluffy goodness. After settling thick chunks of lace stick to the edge of my glass.

The aroma is super fruity. Oranges and lemons are right up front. Then some grassiness and a wheat/corn tone takes over. This is strange scented beer to say the least. Not bad by any stretch just unique as hell.

The flavor is spicy and fruity. Orange juice and lemons with cinnimon and clove. Some hops can be picked up in the finish. The taste is just as unique as the aroma.

Medium body. Loads of carbonation.

Overall a weird yet pleasing beer. Not bad at all just out there as far as saisons go. I would love to give this another try in the future.
