Beautiful beer with great piney flavor and aroma. After the whole bomber, I wanted more.

Bomber into a snifter. Big aroma on this one, like many other 3F beers. I could smell this one as I was pouring it. Pours a cloudy copper with 1 finger's width of slightly off-white foam. Tons of carbonation all the way to the last sip. Nose is very floral and grassy-pine, grapefruit, and peaches. Medium weight and awesomely creamy mouthfeel. This thing drinks like a 6%'er. Slight bitterness up front on the taste, and a strong grapefruit presence. Lots of malt on the back end. Very well balanced. The aftertaste is a bit grassy/grainy with some lingering bittersweet flavor.

Overall, another impressive beer by the boys from Munster. This one is almost as good as Cimmerian sabertooth Berzerker, which I gave a 5. It all comes down to personal taste, of course, but this one was just a little too muted for me to consider it worthy of a 5. Still an awesome, awesome, awesome beer. I enjoyed every sip.

Poured into a Dogfish Spiegelau glass. No freshness date.

A- Pours a semi-hazy medium amber color with a 1/2 inch off-white head that retains well before becoming a thick ring around the edge of the glass and a full sheet of surface foam. Semi-resilient lacing leaves a broken ring behind.

S- The pungent hop character is nicely balanced by the sweet malt backbone. The more I sniff, the more I see that the hop aroma is more grassy and earthy rather than citrusy.

T- Earthy hop flavor, sweet malt and an alcohol presence that's not too noticeable but certainly there all the same. This is treading on barleywine territory but the assertive bitterness keeps me from fully realizing that sentiment. There's even some raisin and other dark fruit flavor that would suggest this is closer to an ageable ale rather than an IPA that needs to be drank fresh.

M- Smooth. That's the only word that comes to mind because this 100 IBU beer is not sharp, tingly, bitey or anything, just smooth. I would almost say that's the coolest thing about this beer. Medium carbonation and a body leaning toward the fuller side.

O- I must admit, I was expecting more of a bitter hop bomb than what actually ended up in the glass. Dare I say, this is almost like an English-style DIPA with its sturdy malt presence and subtle hop usage.

Beautiful color n the border of golden and amber. Beautiful lacey head that quickly dissipates.

Citrusey and piney nose.

Appropriate and very nice bitterness at the front. Subtle maltiness that belies the 9 % ABV.
Don't taste the expected caramel. Always think a 9% beer that tastes like this is dangerous. Too easy to drink!

Finish as expected for DIPA. Big hoppy bitterness.

Superb beer to my taste. Sad the cask will not last long.

This was reviewed blind as part of the Blind Beer BIF

box 2, bottle 2
Poured into my Ithaca Tulip as instructed

A - Pours a cloudy yellow orange with an inch of very white fluffy foam that is leaving good lacing as it fades down my glass

S - nice citrus aroma, grapefruit, lemon and orange fill the nose

T - nice strong citrus hop taste and a nice malty sweet background but not overpowering, ending with a good bitter finish
going with IPA

M/D - medium bodied with crisp carbonation, slightly dry finish, this is something I could drink all day or well as long as my liver would allow.

alright, time to pull back the curtain...

Nice! I've been wanting to try this one and had some trades set up that never went through. So glad I got to try this. Big thanks to you Richard.

22 oz bomber.

It pours a light clear orangeish gold. The head is foamy and white. It dissipates fairly quickly and leaves a nice ring of lacing.

This one smells pretty good. It is pretty much citrus through and through. There is a thin layer of sweetness but it is merely accentuating the citrus.

There is predominant citrus rind in the flavor. There is a good amount of tropical fruit in here too. The hops are very vegetal and acidic, not exactly super-bitter. The mouthfeel is pretty thick and a bit syrupy. The sweetness mixed with the acidity is a bit much it creates an almost tingly cloying sensation.

It just seems like something is missing from this DIPA, i suspect the use of Summit hops which imo are not one of my favorites due to the high acidity levels, but FFF pulled it off much nicer than Oskar Blues did.

Overall it is solid, but if you want an amazing FFF DIPA go with the Dreadnaught

edit: Had another bottle, this time with a bowl of Chili John's chili and it was freakin awesome, the tropical acid flavor is gone and it is just a bitter hop bomb.
