Finally got to try a beer I have wanted for a long time.

Def not disappointed.

Look- crystal clear with small white head. Great lacing on the glass
Smell- this is a pale ale, so I did not expect IPA aroma, but it was damn close. Perfect for style.
Taste- Smooth all around. Great lingering citrus taste. Very sessionable beer.
Feel- Creamy mouthfeel. Really goes down nice and easy.
Overall- Usually not a a big Pale Ale guy, but this one is really exceptional. Could pound 5-6 of these consecutively very easily. Worth the hype

I finally had some of this, received in a trade. Only a couple weeks old but was a total malt bomb. I've been told that you can find this on shelves in tons of places these days. Sounds like the QC isn't where it needs to be. This was sub par by most any standard, but likely due to being stored at room temp for 2 weeks.

thanks to kalvarez for this one!

poured into a snifter

appearance: i got a huge white fluffy head with this pour, prolly 1-2". otherwise pours a dark translucent amber color

aroma: great nose on this beer. huge tones of pinneaple and pine, great hop forward scent!

palate: oh so smooth for a pale ale. i prefer pretty bitter brews, but man oh man can i appreciate how good this one feels in the mouth

taste: more smooth character, this one goes down easy. heavy on the pine flavors, and perfect on the citrus. the only thing keeping this from perfect is that i thought it could have had some more hop to it, but the thing is so darn smooth so its ok

overall: this one lived up to the hype. its nice to have a rare, top 50 beer that's reasonably priced too. very glad i got to try this, and thanks again to kalvarez for the trade! will be happily drinking this over the next 2 weeks!!

From a 2-week-old bottle, pours a moderately hazy orange. Half-inch of foam leaves spotty lacing. Smell is grapefruit, pine and other assorted fruits. Taste is citrusy with spicy pine. Nice bready malt on the finish, followed by a modest bitterness. Feel is fantastic--very substantial for this ABV. Overall, this is just a great, great beer. Wish I could get it all the time.

A huge thanks to sblickem for sending me a few of these. Been wanting to try this one forever.

12 oz. bottle into a Duvel glass. Pours a light gold and settles a clear amber in the glass. Excellent carbonation. A semi-aggressive pour yielded about 2 fingers of sticky, white foam. Very aromatic - one of those beers you can smell from a couple feet away. Tropical fruit, citrus, pine, and hops on the nose. Medium-light weight, and quite smooth on the mouthfeel. There's a slight hoppy bitterness up front with a strong malt backbone. Notes of tropical fruit are present, but are somewhat muted by the hops and malt. Fairly constant taste throughout. Finishes crisp and clean, and leaves a malty sweetness and a slight hop zest behind for the aftertaste.

Overall, a very good pale ale that's unquestionably drinkable and super tasty. While I don't quite understand all the hype surrounding this particular beer, it does offer a great balance and drinkability that a lot of other pale ales fail to achieve. Damn good.

A - clear golden straw color with a solid finger of white head that retains only slightly and leaves minimal lacing

S - I'm getting some serious oniony/earthy and citrus hop notes from this bottle (previous bottle was more fruit/citrus)... Pretty strong so it overpowers any effect of malt... Nice clean aroma that gets you excited to drink

T - the hops are in your face... Earthy/oniony to start, with a little hint of some malty sweetness in between before the citrus hops finish it off... They obviously wanted the hops to be the primary target, so the malt character was left very basic and minimal

M - vibrant, not harsh... Almost perfect amount of carbonation for an ipa

O - one of my top 5 IPAs of all time... Definitely should grab this one if you can
