16 oz. pint on tap at the brewery, unknown brewing/kegging date, drank over 30 minutes

A: 3/3 - golden-orange coloration, high clarity (can both read and see through), initial frothy white carbonation settled into a subtle glass lacing with carbonation lakes and mixed sized bubbles; moderate alcohol legs

S: 10/12 - moderate citrus and tropical fruit aroma - tangerine, orange, mango, papaya - with a subtle crystal malt sweetness and some alcohol

T: 18/20 - on the front of the tongue, there is a gentle hop bitterness; this quickly gives way to citrus flavors - most prominently, candied orange - but some tropical flavors as well - mango, pineapple and papaya; on the back of the palate, there is a touch of bready/biscuity and caramel malts; finishes dry and inviting of subsequent sips

M: 4/5 - medium body, juicy but not hop coating, moderate carbonation

O: 9/10 - although not as wowed as on my first experience when I had no expectations, it's a world class pale ale; love that candied sugar sweetness in the middle of the palate that is not cloying; after having PseudoSue on the same trip, I would give them the slight edge but feel like they are more different than you'd expect; obviously recommended, especially for $5/pint

TOTAL - 44/50

This beer represents 3 floyds very well, with that citrus undertone, wonderful frothy head, and that perfect orange, lemon zest floral aroma. It's a great beer and after finally acquiring one through I close friend, am please that it's my first review.

In comparison to other pale ales, wonderfully smooth, balanced, citrusy, crisp, but ever so slightly more malty in comparison to other 3 folyds. But to be truthful, doesn't taste much different than gumballhead, which I had just 1 night before. After trying this, I had to crack open a gumball just to do a side by aide comparison because the two tasted so similar from memory.

Side by side, the two different characteristics of each 3 floyds take on each style (wheat & pale ale) are highly evident. The signature floyds citrus is just an underscore and you can pick up both the crisp breadiness of the wheat ale Gumballhead and the cleanly balanced bitterness of the legendary Zombie Dust.

That being said, overall, I'm a little let down. This beer, even in Indiana, is extremely rare to get ahold of. When in stock, its by the 1 or 2 six packs that fly off the shelf. Every craft lover I talk too speaks of zombie dust like it's the loch ness monster of beer; a legend that's rarely been seen. I was expecting something epic, rememberable, and the fact that I had to taste this and gumballhead side by side to tell the difference days something. Gumballs are hard enough to get ahold of where I'm from, let alone this beer, that is with out a doubt, more hype than delivery. It's a great beer, but not the holy Bigfoot x files Grail that, at least in these parts, it's played up to be. Still an easy 7/10 overall.

This shows me that the Alstrom Bros are not dialed in. A 90? C'mon man....this is arguably the greatest beer ever made. That is like saying the Godfather is just OK, or that the Brady Bunch Movie has more laughs than Caddyshack. They rated Smuttynose Finest Kind a 100 and this a 90. That is pure comedy! They think Dogfish 60 and Stone are better than this? OMG....absolute comedy. This is a great great beer. Trust me on this. I absolutely love this beer, and I am not alone because this is harder to come by than Pappy Van Winkle 20.

The beautiful pour, the heavenly aroma, and the explosion of flavor of the first sip. The hop profile is complex, deep and compelling. Pine & Citrus, with floral jungle flower undertones....rich color...great initial blast of resiny flavor with a beautiful finish. This is as close to heaven as a brew could get. Absolute perfection and I just wish everyone could try it.
