Picked up my limit of two 12 oz bottles at Discount Liquor on Oklahoma in Milwaukee. Bottling stamp states this one is about three months old. Poured right from the fridge into a tulip glass.

L: Pours a bright apricot, quite cloudy with particulate, with a dense half-inch cream-colored head that has some nice retention and leaves considerable lacing on the glass. Through the fine particulate, a healthy visible carbonation is present.

S: A fruity aroma is present as I open the bottle, even before pouring. Big ripe stone fruit, orange, grapefruit, melon, and pineapple are all represented in the bouquet--these notes play on top of cracker malts. Just a bit of funky hop notes--slightly grassy and herbal--complete the experience.

T: The taste is considerably more bitter at the front than what I was bracing for. The fruit notes are there, but they lack some of that fresh, ripe quality they had in the nose--I'm getting quite a bit of grapefruit and citrus rind at the front, mingling with some pine and grassy hop flavor above a cracker malt base. As the flavor moves to the middle, there's more of that funky/herbal hop flavor coming through, along with some deeper stone fruit flavors. There's just a hint of warming alcohol as the flavor transitions to the back end. The back brings more of the citrus rind/grapefruit and stone fruit character--certainly on the more bitter end of the spectrum--and the close brings assertive citrus rind and pine bitterness, with just a bit of tropical and stone fruit lingering above it all.

F: On the lighter side of medium-bodied, this one never feels watery on the palate. Very nice level of carbonation, affording this one a bright, smooth, bitter, and dry feel in turns. While the finish brings the bitter, the dry close allows a lot of flavors to continue playing on the palate in the aftertaste.

O: I don't know that this beer ever could have lived up to my expectations and the hype surrounding it, but I will say that it's a very good beer well worth finding. It could be the date of the bottle, but I was hoping that more of the ripe, juicy fruit notes from the nose would be present in the taste. I will say that very few pale ales I've tried have anything close to the flavor depth of this one, and everything--from the look to the smell to the feel--is really on point.

This was a disappointment for me.
Been waiting a while to give it a try and finally scored one thanks to my buddy Jake in MN.
As I said to him - in my opinion, beers like this had their time, and I appreciate that I was able to give it a try but it was like Pliny for me - good, fun to check it off the list, but it falls way short compared to the east coast stuff I drink all the time. Trillium, Tree House etc etc....
Check it off the list if you get the chance. I wont be on the hunt for any more.

Poured from a 12 oz can into a nonic pint glass. Bottling date is 3/7/17, 18 days ago.

Zombie Dust pours a hazy golden orange color, with a nice two finger off-white head that has good retention throughout. The beer leaves a nice amount of lacing on the glass and is a very nice looking beer overall.

The aroma of the beer is a pleasant combination of hops, with notes of citrus - primarily grapefruit and citrus rind - as well as piney and resinous scents.

The taste of this one is hop forward, but the various flavors are balanced well. Strong piney flavors are mellowed by citrus before a slightly bitter finish.

The mouth feel is crisp, with a medium body and carbonation on the low end of medium.

Overall, this liberally hopped APA is near perfect and well deserving of its reputation.

3 Floyds Brewing Co. - Zombie Dust. 6.2% ABV. 16oz pint glass ordered at a restaurant.

Look: Golden orange body, great clarity. Small, foamy off white head on top.

Smell: Juicy citrus fruits, with a lot of floral notes along with hops.

Feel: Medium bodied, extremely smooth.

Taste: Lots of citrus (orange, grapefruit), with a slight hop bitterness.

Overall: I can finally say I've had the renowned Zombie Dust! I can see why it has such a reputation, but also feel it was overrated. Great balance and great beer, but that's it.

Excited to have finally acquired a Zombie Dust! Pours a deep orange to amber with a smooth thick white head. Nose is of fresh, bold citrus. Taste of bright citrus fruits. Grapefruit and orange peel. A small bit of floral in there too but the citrus is the star. Getting a bit of sweet sticky caramel malts coming through too that I enjoy. It is very juicy, not as bitter or pungent as I thought it might be and because of that, it is a a very smooth and easy drinking beer. Medium body with a light creaminess to its body. Semi crisp and dry finish. I love Zombie Dust! This beer is as advertised IMO. Cheers

A 12 oz bottle dated 1/25/2017 poured into a snifter.

Appearance- A deep golden color with about a finger of thick darker head. Lots of bubbling carbonation. Lacing down the entire glass.

Smell- Lots of tropical type fruits and just enough hops. Definitely stays true to the style.

Taste- More grapefruit and orange than the smell led me to believe. The dry hops come through as almost an aftertaste. The hoppy bitterness blends with the fruit notes for a fantastic brew.

Mouthfeel- Crisp with super clean carbonation. The dry finish seems to make the flavor last forever.

Overall- A phenomenal low ABV beer. You just keep drinking it and wanting more. The hoppy taste and carbonation mix for a very drinkable beer. Highly recommend getting some if you can find it.
