Been had that-- and seek it out whenever it rears its ugly label. Worth the ride to the Indiana if you can't find it in Chicago-- hell, they may have it on tap in their ghoulish tasting room... place is like CBGB's in the 80s.

Nevertheless, Zombie Dust demonstrates that Citra is so damn good when it hits the lips, and memorable.

Pours a burnt orange color with epic columns of lace going down the glass. Aroma is hoppy with plenty of tropical fruits, grapefruit, melon and pine. Similar in the taste big time citrus and west coast flavor making for a great drinking pale. It may really be closer to an IPA. Just a touch of honeyed malt flavor, really a nice drinking pale with plenty of flavor behind it. Hype plays a role in many beers, this one lives up to all of it.

Had it on tap at the brewery. Right up there with the best pale ales.

Poured fresh into snifter, no longer than 3 weeks old. Received in a trade as an extra. Great extra at that! Been always wanting to see what the hypes about.

Pour is a copper, dark orange semi opaque. Tight white bubbles, half finger head. Decent lacing and stickiness to it.

Smell is initially citra bitterness. Getting lemon zest and orange peel. Definitely some sweet oranges and grapes as well. Very slight hop resin in the nose, not much malt either.

Citra hop foward with the taste. Some say you wouldn't know it's a APA by just trying it, but I disagree. Definitely tastes like an APA. Straight foward citra taste, nice sweet malty backbone. Very subtle pine. Not much tropical fruit going on at all.

Mouthfeel is medium carbonation and medium bodied. Very crisp and clean.

Overall straight foward APA. Very one dimensional (citrus dominates, slight pine and sweet malt) but one dimensional isn't always a bad thing. Smooth, easy drinking. Very enjoyable.
