A collaboration/dedication ale brewed with our friend Urbain from the Belgian brewery De Struise, this intense Belgian-style double IPA was fermented with Urbain's special yeast and then an amazing amount of hops were added. Had the pleasure of trying this on tap and from the bottle, both mediums being outstanding. This review is for the bottle.

A: pours a coppery red with a thick off white collar of tight bubbles.

S: huge notes of grapefruit rinds, passionfruit, pine, and a light touch of spice. one of the best smelling iipas I've come across, world class aroma thanks to Nick and his heavy handed hop additions. almost better smelling than tasting... Almost.

T: starts with a wash of grapefruit and tropical fruits, and as it moves into the middle of the mouth the hugely bitter hop bomb sets in. sweet citrus notes and a heavy malt backbone offset the incredible amounts of alpha acids that peel the enamel off your teeth.

Overall, this is one of the best beers FFF has produced, they seem to be outdoing their year rounds on purpose. This has all the bitterness you'd want from an iipa, like Dreadnaught on steroids and with tropical fruit abound.

22 oz bomber (bottled 02/10/14)

Poured into IPA glass

A: poured deep copper or amber color with thick 2-3 finger head. Great lacing and head retention. Very clear

S: tangy, resinous, tangerine and strong floral citrus in the nose. Sweet malty aroma peeking through.

M: Rich, thick and viscous mouth feel. almost chewy (in a good DIPA way). Perfect carbonation.

T: starts with forward pungent grapefruit hop burst (tastes like it was wet-hopped). Then the bicuity Belgian or English malt comes through to balance it out...but then the hop bitterness comes in, and it is just the right amount to create a perfect balance to tame the spicy peppery yeast character in the finish.

O: Another fantastic beer from 3 Floyd's. Bravo

Appearance: Gamboge/light mahogany body with a crisp ivory head.

Aroma: Orange and apples with a profound yeasty nose.

Taste: Apples, mango, grapefruit, and a deep Belgian yeast profile.

Mouthfeel: Fair carbonation with a smooth finish - I expect more from a Double IPA.

Overall: As a fan of IPAs, I was eager to try 'Live a Rich Life' - even more so when I heard it was a Belgian-style Double IPA; heaven. Try this whenever possible.

Rich Life had me at 100 IBUs! The smell ignites the senses with the strength of the hops. I can't lie, My mouth began to water once I took a sniff. The color is a like caramel. The first taste made me think of gumball head, but has much more bite from the hops. I like this a lot and wish I could get it in a 6 pack.

Amazing beer. Big Belgian IPA hybrid. Perhaps the most delicious DIPA I've ever had.

This is another sublime IPA offering that honors the life of a prematurely departed employee. Amber/dark orange color with decent head. For such high IBUs it is well balanced with a malty sweetness. Pick it up when it is available.
