A: Pours an opaque yet still clear jet black in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and faint dark cola brown colored highlights. The beer has a three finger tall dense sudsy foamy dark mocha head that slowly reduces to a medium sized patch of medium thick film surrounded by a large patch of thin film covering the remainder of the surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate to significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Slightly stronger than moderate aromas of roasted malts with a light to moderate aroma of chocolate malts + cocoa. Moderate to strong aromas of pine, herbal, spicy, and earthy hops.

T: Upfront there are moderate to strong flavors of roasted malts with a light to moderate flavor of chocolate malts + coffee + cocoa. That is followed by moderate to strong flavors of pine, herbal, spicy, and earthy hops as well as light to moderate flavors of citrus/grapefruit zest + citrus/grapefruit pith hops. There is a slightly stronger than moderate amount of roasty + hoppy bitterness in the finish which lingers for a long time.

M: Slightly heavier than medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Smooth.

O: Very enjoyable and this bottle is just about a year old (stored in the back of the fridge for the majority of the time). Really well hidden alcohol and a slightly lighter than expected mouthfeel but a really delicious combination of hops flavors + aromas balancing the strong malts. A slow sipper for me.

At only 6.00% ABV and being a porter an 11oz pour in a Tulip glass I thought was a little unusual. But that being said, this is an excellent beer. Obviously nice black color, with a tan head that didn't last long. Sutle floral smell with a easy chocolate coffee taste and without any bitterness. Easy drinking. Very nice.

Bought one 650ML to try. Smell is definitely citrus hops and malt. Taste has the hops more subdued by the dark flavors of a Porter beer like chocolate and coffee. Taste is consistent thru the mouthful, not too carbonated and well blended. Finish is clean with little aftertaste.

Bottom line, if you enjoy the citrus hops that 3 Floyds uses in their beers, you should also enjoy this one too. Personally i was looking for a more traditional Porter taste, but then again this is 3 Floyds, and even the bottle has the message 'Is Not Normal'. Overall beer had a well blended feel and good taste too-- an interesting take on a Porter for sure.
