Had during the 2nd Annual Redneck Racin’ & Tastin’ while tailgating at the dirt track race! Big thanks goes out to Jzmhector for this one! Served from bottle into a NoDa snifter. Poured dark brown with a half finger off-white head that subsided to a minimal amount quickly. Maintained decent lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, salt, smoke, smoked meat, and roasted malt. The flavor was of sweet malt, roasted malt, smoke, and salt. It had a medium feel on the palate with medium-high carbonation. Overall this was a pretty decent brew. While the oyster aspect of this stout was there, it definitely wasn’t the star of the show like some of the ones I’ve had in the past. The soft salt aspect going on here helped to make this one easier to drink. Really glad I got the chance to try this one as I had no idea it existed. Worth trying if you get the chance.

Pours out a mostly translucent black into a pint glass. Two fingers of tan head that fade slowly and leave nice lacing.

Smell is a mix of earth, minerals, and light chocolate.

Taste is a bit acidic and soy sauce like with chocolate and earthy notes in the background. Solid background flavors and base beer as well as an appealing taste concept, but comes across a bit off on the palate.

Mouthfeel is reasonably chewy with a moderately high to high carbonation level.

Overall a solid offering, but the high carbonation impression along with a bit more acidity and salt that I like, this one doesn't quite hit home. A bit more mineral oyster flavor would be nice.

Pours almost black in color with a finger of tan head. Smells rather salty. Nice roasted malt, a hint of chocolate, and dark fruit. The flavor has just a hint of bitterness. There’s really nice roastiness, good chocolate notes, light saltiness, and a hint of graham cracker.

Poured from bomber into dimple glass mug. Pours dark brown with a nice one-finger tan head. Aromas of sweet stout, oat, light oyster sauce, and roasted malts. Flavors of roasted and sweet malt, wood, and brown sugar. Somewhat of a slight bitter taste in the back finish. Medium-thick mouthfeel with nice carbonation. Overall, an interesting stout but not one that blew the other two out of the water.

22oz bottle opened on 5.29.12.

A - Pours a very dark brown with a very small dark tan head that quickly moves to the edges.

S - Hard to pick-up much. Some chocolate and coffee finally come out.

T - Salty chocolate and some subtle coffee.

D - Lower carbonation and medium-heavy body.

O - Saltier and milder than expected. Pretty lackluster.
