Notes / Commercial Description:
Behold! The fifth collaborative effort of Three Floyds and Mikkeller. This complex ale is just the beverage for canal boat trips in Copenhagen or the brutal Chicago winter. This year’s offering will be brewed in both Europe and in Chicago. Look for both editions and the subtle differences in each. Cheers and thanks for supporting craft beer.

The body is lighter in color from the rice, golden hue, thin cap and collar.
The aroma is really clean, it really smells like Zombie Dust in a way to me, with a light clean malt base it really lets the hops stay clean and crisp.
Flavors are hop forward like crisp citrus and fruit notes, light pineapple and hints of mango, yum. I really like what the rice did in here actually. one of my complaints with a lot of ABWs is they get really resinous and sticky, and this one is not that way.
Mouthfeel is light thanks to the rice. well done.

Color me impressed. Better then i expected, worth grabbing if you like the style.

A: hazy yellow/amber, modest head with ok retention

S: Hoppy with Citra hops and floral notes present. Rice sweetness.

T: Alcoholic with heavy malts. hoppy along the taste. some bitterness.

M: heavy and full, some dryness on the finish.

O: Rice beers aren't my favorite but this well served by the hops. Solid Barleywine.

I have been sitting on this one since 2012 . Finally decided to open this gem pool side.

A. looks like honey, cannot see at all threw it, very cloudy. about a 3 finger head. not sure if the color reflects it being 2 years old.
S. smells is very close to a East Coast IPA . kind of has that mango, pineapple IPA very sweet juciey smell.
T. very nice .. by no means if someone put this in front of me in a blind taste tast would i ever think this is a barleywine. i would swear this is a Imperial IPA. has some malt backbone and really gets more of a varnish tast as it warms. very drinkable.
M. very stickey close to honey in the mouth and keeps the throut coated as a RIS might. again might be because it has been aged for 2 years.
O. i really wish i had more of these . was a great treat and well worth the wait of cellering this one. this is something i would drink all the time if it was not such a rare beer .. i would reconmind this one . if you have a chance to sample and like IPA's this will be a treat..
