Poured from a 22 oz. bottle into a Three Floyds pint glass.

Appearance: Pours midnight black. Moderate amount of bubbles and a slight finger of tan head that settles into a thin creamy layer.

Smell: A roasty and rich dark malt driven aroma with a scent of chocolate, coffee, and earthy hops. Dark roasted malt with a scent of dark chocolate, coffee, toast, smoke, biscuit, and caramel with yeast. Solid hop presence with some earthy hints of pine and grass. Sweet scent of burnt molasses and brown sugar. Subtle hints of dark fruit and tobacco. A pretty good aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a roasty and rich dark malt driven taste with notes of chocolate, coffee, and earthy hops. Dark roasted malt with some notes of bitter dark chocolate, coffee, toast, smoke, biscuit, nuts, and caramel along with yeast. Bigger hop presence than typical for the style with some nice earthy notes of pine and grass. Sweet notes of burnt molasses and brown sugar. Undertones of dark fruit and tobacco. A very good taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium to full bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Rich and bitter. Alcohol heat is hidden well.

Overall: A really good Imperial Stout. Hoppier than typical for the style but it is still very much an Imperial Stout with some nice charred malt notes.

'14 vintage. This definitely aged very well.

This one pours a very dark black, with a surprisingly long lasting mocha colored head, and lots of lacing.

Immediately on the palate, even 3 years-ish after bottling, it still smells pretty hoppy, with burnt pine, leafy tobacco, and citrus, along with brown sugar, nutty coffee, and cola.

When cold, hoppiness is the main thing I get out of this, a burnt scorched hoppiness, like some sort of heavily-hopped coffee beverage. But as it warms, tons of cool little complexities. I get some dark brown sugar, a herbal sweetness that reminds me of sarsaparilla or cola, vanilla, figs, and dark bitter chocolate. It's still hoppy, like a delicious malty pine tree, but it definitely dissipates as the beer warms and opens up.

This is medium bodied, creamy and fairly silky, with a good level of carbonation.

This was superb. The best stout I've had from FFF.
