On tap at FFF

A- pours her black with a creamy khaki head that leaves great lacing

S- roster malt, chocolate, prune, piney hops

T- toasty chocolate and coffee up front, fig and prune, piney hops, syrupy finish with a longer of chocolate and char

M- medium body and carbonation, creamy mouthfeel that continues into the finish

O- nice stout with dark fruit notes, I typically prefer less hippy though

From a 22oz bottle, dated 12/06/16, at basement floor temperature. Served in a tulip.

Pours garnet-black with aforementioned garnet highlights and two-plus fingers of soft, lush mocha head. Retention is excellent, finally settling back to a fine film amidst an archipelago of bubbly islets and solid, clinging sheets of lace.

The nose is faint. I think I'm getting oats and cherries here, like kirsch, and maybe some barrel, but I'm working very hard at it.

Tastes of mildly sweet roasted malt with cherries, blueberry, mocha, tannins and leather jacket. Finishes sweetly boozy with pancake syrup and some sticky citrus.

Feel is smooth and syrupy, medium bodied, with good carbonation and lingering booziness in the sinuses and gullet.

Overall, a decent, uncomplicated impy stout, although a little sweet and fruity for my tastes. If I had it to do over, I probably should have left it in the basement for another year. Still, at 10.4% abv, it sure as hell got the job done.

Poured into a pint glass. An opaque brown-black color with a generous khaki head. The foam stayed with me throughout and settled slowly into a nice cap. The nose was primarily chocolate and oatmeal, but there was also a mild cherry tartness and a bit of char. I tasted the cherry up front and I have to day that I noticed a mild phenolic plastic flavor with a hot finish. Nice chocolate and coffee notes. The phenols threw me and I did not enjoy this one. Medium bodied with a creamy feel.
