Bottle from MeadMe, HUGE thanks for sending it my way so I could share it with the Tasters Choice group!
Pours a thick viscous black color with a smallish tan head that dissipates quickly. Huge rich malty aromas of brown sugar, caramel, molasses, coffee, dark chocolate, light wood and hints of bourbon, light fruit and smoke. Huge complex nose that I could park my nostrils over all night. The flavor is richly complex like the aroma suggested. Huge sweet sugary maltiness as a base to a bit of chocolate and roasted grains set in some bourbon oak and lightly smokey with touches of fruit and earth. Medium to thick body with a light level of carbonation. Fantastic frigging beer right here! If I weren't driving sat night I would have seriously Bogart-ed this bottle!

Big thanks to DocJ007 for busting this one open for us at the last monthly tasting. Served right after Baller for comparison sake.

A - Pours ink black with a decent one finger tall tan head, quickly dissipating down to a light film, leaving small trails of lace on the sides of the glass.

S - Smells of dark chocolate, coffee, vanilla, molasses, dark fruits, plenty of woody oak, warm bourbon and lots of dark roasted malt. Much better than the base but still a touch out of focus, I guess that is expected.

T - Starts off with the sweetness - mainly the molasses, vanilla, dark fruits and dark chocolate - slowly being joined by the coffee, oak, toffee, smooth bourbon and the ever present dark roasted malt. Finish is sweet and roasty with a bit of dryness at the end of each sip, lingering long after the finish.

M - Heavy body with moderate carbonation. Smooth, creamy feel makes it very easy to consume. Very little of the reported 14% is noticeable.

O - I am not a fan of the base beer at all but this is very good. I would have never guessed it would be this good to have this many beers blended together. I am honestly surprised how much the barrel has smoothed everything out. Glad I could finally try this one, thanks again Justin!

750mL bottle shared at tasting, with huge thanks to Joe. Reviewed from notes.

Dark chocolate, not your typical jet black or motor-oil appearance, with a fleeting saffron head that falls to nought. Decent ABV legs on swirling.

Fairly dominant umami theme, with plenty of soy sauce, vegemite, toasted bread and cocoa nibs, assisted by the dry finish from the oak. Fleeting sweet notes of dates and molasses in the taste, becoming a little more promient over the course but remaining firmly as back notes.

As the appearance suggests the mouthfeel is not super thick. Dry, dark chocolatey bitterness and minimal booze heat.

Quite a solid RIS, but didn't wow me. The barrel notes seem subdued, un-bourbony, and work largely to make for a nice clean flavour profile, but overall seems lacking in complexity and presence.
