Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a Three Floyds pint glass.

Appearance: Pours a bright and clear amber orange. Moderate amount of bubbles and about a finger of off white head which settles into a thin creamy patch.

Smell: A juicy and earthy aroma with a scent of citrus fruit and pine. Upfront citrus hop scent of orange, grapefruit, papaya, passion fruit, lemon, and mango with some pineapple. Earthy hop hints of pine and grass. Also some hints of tea. Malt hints of caramel, grains, and cracker with yeast. A very good juicy aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a juicy and earthy hop driven taste with notes of citrus fruit and pine. Juicy citrus hop notes of orange, grapefruit, mango, passion fruit, papaya, and lemon with pineapple. Earthy hop notes of pine and grass. Background malt notes of caramel, grains, and cracker along with yeast. Also some light notes of tea. A very nice taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Juicy, crisp, and very smooth.

Overall: A very good Pale Ale. Nice citrus hop flavor with a moderate smooth body.

Middle of the road pale ale. Well balanced and quaffable. Scent is not unpleasant, though hop notes are muted. While many of this beer's attributes are slightly above the norm, mouthfeel exceeds expectations.

Pours a deep clear copper, about a half inch of head, solid lace retention. Pineapple, grapefruit, pine, resin on the nose. Tastes of candied fruit at the start, finishes with malty biscuit - absolutely delicious, moderated flavor. Doesn't have that full mouthfeel of a Zombie Dust, but has a light, crisp carbonation. Overall makes me wish I had bought more.

Tasty pale ale with a mix of big mandarin orange and background toffee-caramel malt. The hops are the focus, of course, with a dry, spicy finish and cracked pepper. I'd have a few.

Pours a clear copper colour. Smells like light, sweet malts, vanilla, white grape, citrus-hops, orange, mango, guava, and tropical fruits. Tastes like it smells, light, refreshing, light malt-body throughout, citrus-hops, juicy tropical-fruits, with passion fruit at the finish.

12oz bottle just bottled on 11/22 poured into an East End Brewing pint glass:

Look: Pours a nice golden to orange color with roughly an inch of head. Lacing is present with good retentions.

Smell: Notes of citrus such as oranges and grapefruit along with some pine.

Taste: Taste follows the nose along with a decent malty bready backbone present. Slight bitterness but nothing too crazy.

Feel: Medium bodied and crisp!

Overall: Another mighty fine pale from 3 Floyds! A step below Alpha King and Zombie Dust in my opinion but still very solid! Love it when my buddy comes back to PA and brings these delicious beers back! I would seek this one out again if given the opportunity!

First had poured from 22-oz. bomber into nonic pint. Space Station Middle Finger is appreciably less expensive than most of 3F's other big bottles, but a beautifully-balanced pale ale.

20 day old bomber from Binny's In Chicago.
Pours a cloudy orange-yellow .
IMHO 3 Floyds is killing the pale ales .
Nothing overwhelming but subtly complex and extremely well balanced .
Palate pleaser .

22 oz bottle was poured into a nonic glass.

Appearance: A one finger head was poured that reduced to a small puffy layer. It is an orange color with great clarity and vision of bubbles coming up through the glass. Frothy lacing down the glass as the beer was drank.

Smell: Light tropical, citrus, herbal, and lemony hops followed by pale, biscuity, and toasted malts.

Taste: Nice and mellow hop flavor followed by balancing malt backbone with light bitterness and chewy notes in the rear.

Mouthfeel: Smooth, light bodied, balanced, crisp, refreshing, medium carbonation, and slight chewy and bitterness notes.

L (4.25) - Dark amber beer with some cloudy white foam up there. My glass was too small so it didn't accumulate like it could have, probably.
S (4.5) - Smells GREAT! I get a lot of hop and a lot of roasty, malty aromas. No mistaking what's going on here.
T (4.5) - Tastes just like it smells. I get more of the piney/florally hop tastes, rather than citrus. But it hits you straight away. Very big malt flavors after that. Slightly sweet in the back, and a little bitter at the very end.
F (4.25) - Smoother than you might think, really. Seems to have the right amount of carbonation for the style.
O (4.5) - A big, bad-ass complex beer and I loved every bit of it. I grabbed this while out of town, and was very pleased. I will buy again next time in the area.

The pour easily yields two plus fingers of agitated eggshell white foam, the surface is punctuated by islands of larger bubbles, retention is strong and the lacing broad and sticks for some time. The liquid is a hazy amber orange, more translucent than near to opaque, a few super-miniscule bubbles are visible. The nose has a concentrated, if not reduced, feel to it, dank herbal funk, corn syrup, caramel, butterscotch, tangerines, tar resin, peppercorns, maybe some light breadiness by way of pastry or scone, not getting any specific, distinct fruit scents, overall it has a steamrolling effect in the nostrils and has presence after the scents have mostly vacated. In the mouth it’s full-bodied, carrying more of that monolithic approach, the carbonation is arguably weak, adds more smooth creaminess than anything else. Most prevalent factor remains the wet forest floor like leafy qualities, tar, earth and pine sap, just tastes vegetal. More mixed citrus here and slightly more delineated white pit fruit. Floral with more of a tea leaf than potpourri character. The butterscotch drops back a notch. A little too “big” for casual pounding but could anyone really expect that here?

Poured from a bomber into a tulip glass. A little hazy. Moderate lacing. Booming smell. Wish the taste lived up to the smell but good nonetheless. Cheers!

Bomber into ipa glass

Almost sent this one away, but glad I didn't. Super aroma. Dynamite hops and bitter twang. As mild as all the features were, I was happy that it wasn't a hop bomb.

22 oz. bottle:

Pours hazed golden amber with a thin, fluffy lasting white head. Lacing sticks.

The smell is of bread, citric and piney, spicy hops and the classic FFF house character.

The taste is of orange, pineapple, grapefruit, floral/piney spice. Some bready malt. Bitter finish.

It has a sharp, medium body.

A bitter-leaning, hop-forward APA. Nice!

Bomber poured into a snifter.

4.5 A: Clear orange amber color. Two fingers of frothy/creamy off-white head. Retention is very good and about one finger of plentiful, but spotty lacing is left.

4.5 S: Really interesting hop profile going on here. What sticks out first, mainly because it's so surprising, is jasmine. Big grassiness, then herbalness, lemongrass, lemon, and grapefruit. Caramel maltiness pumps up an otherwise neutral malt base.

4.25 T: Taste is less impressive than the nose, but still really good. Again I get a lot of herbalness in the form of jasmine and lemongrass. Lemon and grapefruit follow. Caramel maltiness. Basically it tastes like it smells, but not quite as potent.

4.25 M: Lighter medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Pleasantly creamy and super smooth.

4.5 D: Really well made pale. Infinitely drinkable due to the calm bitterness and clean malt profile.

Pours a slightly cloudy, dark golden orange color with apricot edges and a half finger white head that immediately fades into a thin, lasting ring. Sporadic spotty lacing left behind.

Dank floral hop aroma with sticky resins and fresh cut grass countered by tropical/citrus fruit sweetness and a pale malt backbone. Pine needle and kind buds followed by grapefruit, lemon peel, caramel and biscuit.

Full body and extremely hop forward for the style. There's a blast of dank, sticky bitterness that lingers over the sweeter notes and malt backbone into a bone dry finish. Very dry and bitter but not overwhelmingly so. Dank resins, grassy pine and spruce tip dominate. Subtle grapefruit sweetness along with citrus peel, caramel, bread and biscuit. Very intense and complex for a pale ale. Decent balance but could use a little more to counter the aggressive bitterness. Great hop flavors and enough of a malt presence to balance things out without interfering.

Not my favorite 3 Floyds beer, but still very good overall. Unless there was something going on with my bottle it's a fairly low carbonated beer so the mouthfeel reminds me a bit of hair of the dog beers. Otherwise tastes or plum and other fruit ps come through.

What a beautiful beer! Smells like pears, citrus, apples and grains. Straight out the gate I'm getting a vegetal fruit pale ale however when I dont I get a strong grain profile. This is quite an interesting brew. This tastes like a poptart!

1 PINT 6 FL OZ bottle
Served in a Three Floyds teku glass

This beer pours orange-amber in color with amber highlights. It has a slight haze and is topped with several inches of off white head that hangs around awhile leaving nice lacing.

I get a weird, citrus, anise, candy corn aroma.

The taste is odd as well. It starts out sweet, again that candy corn thing comes to mind. Then I am relieved to get some pine and grapefruit flavor. The finish was a battle between sweetness and pine. Pine took the finish.

Medium mouthfeel

I know I will be considered a heretic for not loving this beer, but the only time I get a candy corn flavor from an IPA seems to be from Three Floyds and Pipeworks. I got the same flavor from War Mullet and Citra Ninja. This beer must not agree with my palate. It just seems like a consistent oddity for me.

11/4...bomber. Pours rusty copper, medium color with a lid of white foam and some lacing. Light pine nose. Taste has a subtle sweetness that builds into a light hop bitter burn. Smooth. Really blends the bitter. Great.

Another really good APA from 3Fs. These guys have this shit to down to a perfect mix of science and art. Able to mix amazing hop profiles with malts that work in harmony.
