The wolf inside this pale ale is trying to walk upright. This bright and aromatic beer was brewed with our friends in the band Pig Destroyer.

...and they do it again. They tinker with Dreadnaught-like base recipes and employ new stuff here, omit stuff there, dry the beer, focus its bitterness, and wallah- another world class IPA!

And like their other outstanding hoppy ales, the beer glows with a medium amber, strong gold, honey-like orange hue. Its modest haze makes the beer look like a night light that has just been plugged in. Firmly capped with a light ivory blanket of foam, the retention outlasts the session and laces with broken rings with every sip.

Its focused aromas are all about citrus- grapefruit pulp and pith, freshly zested oranges, and a hint of lemon. Lightly musty in its citrusy scent, mild fragrant herbs, grass, and fresh bark back the citrus but with very little influence from tropical or other fruit. Soft malt support seems to give the fruit aromas a fresher and plumper aromas in an alomost honey or thin caramel kind of way.

The taste is extremely consistent with the aromas. Just as the thin caramel malt saturates the front of the mouth, the hops pull from the sweetness with ripe and juicy grapefruits and oranges before quickly morphing into lemons, grass, and resinous pine to finish. Deeply bitter to close, the beer snaps shut- leaving the palate refreshed and teased, begging for another quick drink.

Medium-full to start, the beer quickly sheds its sweetness and racy carbonation and favors dry malt textures in support of hop dryness, grassy bite, and a crisp citrusy finish. The bitterness grips the throat and bullies it a bit before it fades.

It's an effortless Imperial IPA that favors citrusy hops over all other. Simple in its plan but extraordinary in its results!

Simply put this is the greatest beer I have ever tasted. A showdown between hops and malt and the drinker wins. Achieving perfect balance on a beer this big is quite an achievement. Paralyzingly good. Bravo!!

Had originally gotten this and the cans were bad; I contacted 3Floyds and they actually sent out a fresh 4pk to the store I bought it at and the review is based on those cans.

Pours a beautiful golden shade, perfectly clear with tons of bubbles and a large fluffy head that slowly disappears

Insane aroma of pine, melon, just extreme levels of hops with a massive malt backbone to stand up to it. Quintessential west coast bite and snappiness.

Taste is extremely dry, this is really only for someone who enjoys the tongue-melting high-powered IPA flavors that a lot of modern beers are moving away from. It's less of a dank or juicy flavor but an overwhelming amount of hops. You can definitely taste the 10.5% and it's not shy about reminding you that it's an experience. In spite of all of this, it's insanely refreshing. I hate to say it, but my palate would be very happy using this as a session beer. Unfortunately, my liver wouldn't make it past the second, but the beautiful combination of strong malt to help balance out outrageously aggressive hops means that while it comes off as very heavy, it's horribly easy to drink.

Mouthfeel is perfect. My first 4pk was flat and really grossly boozy, but the beer itself is lightly carbonated. Doesn't coat the mouth or dry you out whatsoever. Additionally, since it's so dry, there's no residual sugar and it's quite refreshing like an IPA should be.

Overall, 3 Floyds had no reason to help me out and replaced my beer after a weird mishap rendered my original 4pk completely disgusting. I have no idea what happened but they got back to me and replaced it within a day.

The actual product is outrageously delicious and lives up to all the hype I had after seeing the can art and that it was a collab with a metal band. You could probably drink 3 of these in an hour, and then have a really bad morning. It's really that good.

Canned 10/6/23. Drank 11/8/23.
Pour is lightly copper with a dense, tight, creamy off white head. Excellent retention and lacing.
Nose is grapefruit, resinous pine, dank, classic C-hops nose
Taste follows the nose - a huge wave of grapefruit rind, pine, resin, dank hops. firm bitterness layered over a moderate bready backbone. Alcohol is well hidden. Wonderfully made classic Imperial IPA.
Clean and crisp beer. 10.5% Imperial IPA that drinks like a 7% IPA. No cloying sweetness

Picked-up a four-pack of cans at Total Wine in Braintree for about fifteen dollars. Canned on date of 10/8/23. My seventh brew from these guys. Holy IBU...good stuff, not for the faint of heart.
