BEER INFO

Brewed by:

Style: American Double / Imperial IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 9.00%

Availability: Limited (brewed once)

Notes / Commercial Description:
Brewed with our friends at Surly, this Imperial Brett IPA is fermented with a unique strain of yeast, Brettanomyces Lambicus. This yeast creates earthy barnyard notes along with pineapple and cherry pie aromas. Of course, it’s hopped heavily. Simcoe and Chinook are the culprits for the “cat peed on the Christmas tree” aroma.

Pours light orange, bright white head, finger, fluffy, lacy. Aroma was mostly all Brett, funky, wet hay, musky. Some floral hops, but the Brett was up front for sure. Tasted wasn't nearly as much Brett, But lacked some complexity. Fairly bitter, floral and piny hops with some jaunts of musk and hay. Body was oily, slick, somewhat bubbly and crisp, not too heavy though, which was good.

Overall, interesting for sure. I enjoyed the Brett in the aroma, but it didn't connect as well in the taste...still a quite good beer. The price tag is a bit unfortunate for what you get though, truth be told.

A - Pours a hazy pale orange with a two inch foamy cream-colored head with good retention.

S - Oranges, grapefruit, tangerine, really nice.

T - Tons of sweet citrus. Oranges, tangerines, pineapple. Very tasty. Just how I like it.

D - Good carbonation with a light body, on the sweeter side.

O - Tons of orange sweet citrus. Very good.

Thanks for the share CraftPunk!

Whoever said this smells like cat piss doesn't know what cat piss smells like. Unless I've been feeding my cat the wrong stuff, because her urine is awful. Totally different from what I was told. The brett is perfectly overwhelming. Pineapples. Funky, yet palatable. Definitely worth a try, if you can get some.
