Sweet and smooth! Aged for over a year and the 6th bottle bottled from the brewery!

Take the sweetness of base Dark Lord and dial it up a notch. Almost too sweet; a true desert beer.

L: Pour inky black (typical dark lord variant).
S: Sweet and mild barrel but the sweet notes from the wine take over the base beer. Dark fruits present and slight tart wine notes.
T: It was very sweet when we had it on tap at DLD in '16. The bottle we recently opened was calmed down on the sweetness and more complex. Barrel notes are coming through with a slight tartness that balanced some of the sweetness. Loads of dark fruit and slight chocolate coming through now. I can see this beer getting better in time.
F: Typically thick and motor oil-like for dark lord.

Stealth pour at the 2016 FWIBF. A little disappointed that Handjee wasn't being poured, but this was a very welcome surprise. The sweetness of the muscat and the DL match together perfectly! The muscat definitely dominates, and that's definitely alright with me. This could almost pass as a port, and an amazing one!

Thanks to my friend Andrew for popping this 2-year old beauty open Sunday at Birch Hill Tavern!

Distinct DL nose. I could easily pick out a DL blind from 50 other stouts by nose alone. Tons of dark fruit and molasses. Somehow even sweeter than regular DL, but the wine characteristics mellow it out on the back end. Goes down smooth as silk. Wish I had more of this. One of the better variants I have had. Killer brew.

This is the 2016 on tap at DLD.

This is a great beer. My favorite of the 4 variants I had on tap. The rich chocolate body plays really well with the rich Muscat barrel that come though and blends with the stout perfectly. Well done FFF on this beer.

Sample at Mikkeller Beer Celebration Copenhagen 2017, red session. Aroma has intense booze, bacon, umami and smoked malt. Taste starts sweet with fried/smoked bacon, quite intense but it gets more balanced towards the finish. Sticky, syrupy body.
