Had Battle on tap at 3 Floyds after an Arctic Panzer and an Evil Power. It completely took me back into my seat. The beginning of the taste started as a full bodied brown / red ale, but as the mouthful sat for a second or two the hops started to come through. The finish was perfectly crisp. I asked for a description of the beer from the bartenders, but they both said that the first batch was literally tapped 30 minutes prior to me sitting down at the bar.

The best way I can describe this beer is if you take a wonderful brown or red ale (my example was bell's best brown), marry it with some tasty, well balanced hops and finish it off with a clean aftertaste, you'd be close to this brew. There was something about its easiness to drink and the flavors being so well balanced that made me fall in love with Battle.

I personally think this beer would do very well in a bottle and hope FFF produces it in some way.

On tap at 3 Floyds

Amber color with white head clear

aroma pleasant grassy hops, with clean malt

biscuit malt with good hops presence, nicely malty

mouthfeel medium

a very drinkable beer. As it warms it becomes maltier.

this is lives up to the standard of 3 floyds

a: hazy dark amber to chestnut brown. ok off-white head and lace.
s: nutty, caramelly malts w some fruity hops underneath. kinda muted, esp for FFF.
t: medium sweet rich malts as above evenly balanced by a smooth bitterness. finish is mostly dry.
o: fine, but i hope they have no plans on bottling this.
