Presentation: Sampled at the Wakefield Labour Club, a.k.a. Red Shed and Fernandes Brewery Tap on several instances during my Easter Trip to the UK. Brewed by Fernandes especially for the nearby Red Shed, Triple OOO is named after three prominent figures at the Red Shed; namely Messrs. OMalley, OReilly and OToole. Runs of this brew are all racked into Firkins and it sells extremely well, some of the brew length remains at Fernandes Brewery Tap for the locals.
Appearance: Pale straw, iridescent soft golden-yellow when held to the light. Thick yet compact ¼ white head, it benefits from a tight sparkler on the Angram. Bold conditioning throughout, the popularity and high turnover of this brew means that it rarely has time to develop in the Nine Gallon Firkin and nearly always retains a solid conditioning.
Nose: Spritzy hops with a bold American twang to the odor. Light in the first inhalation but finishes with a deep flowery and floral perfumed hop bitterness at the ending. Well defined and easily recognizable.
Taste: Solid bitterness with a floral hop flower in the middle. Fresh on the palate, it finishes soft and fruity with a nice Pioneer hop character. Has a taste that reminds me of a high performance low-profile car tyre. Supremely refined, whittled down to the bare essentials, it is designed for a purpose. This is a slick, light, yet immensely characterful & tasty brew that is supposed to be quaffed and it is, invariably this one does not last long on the Handpump.
Mouthfeel: Residual conditioning is firm; carbonation is high yet always soft and refined on the tongue, supporting the refreshing feel that Triple OOO has. Perfect balance with a moderate mouthfeel that somehow retains a large than life disposition.
Drinkability: Slides down oh-so easily ..a true Session brew that drinks exceptionally well. This one seriously begs to never be put down until the Glass is empty, and several times during my Easter Trip, that actually happened. A stupendously irresistible libation.
Overall: Heres raising a Pint of Triple OOO to the 3 Red Shed Musketeers and David James at Fernandes Brewery; it might be a house beer but its certainly no re-badged or re-named generic slouch - this one is a genuine special brew that is a real marvel. Infinitely quaffable, its popularity speaks for itself. One of Fernandes best beers for my money.
Highly Recommended!!!
