I went in here on Sunday as I try and become acquainted with bottle shops in Honolulu. This place is either going out of business or doing a major remodel.

A - This place is a small house converted into a wine/beer shop. Seems like it would have been a nice, quaint shop where you could really talk beer.

S - The staff was friendly, but not overly helpful explaining why the limited selection or what was going on with the store.

Sel. - Very limited. As I stated above the place appears to be going out of business or remodeling. They had maybe twenty beers total in the store, fifteen of which were the same beer. The place was as limited as I've ever seen a store.

I can't address the value as there wasn't really anything to buy. If you are in the area, soon skip it. In some time, maybe they are remodeling and they will have their selection increased.

The Wine Stop is an interesting store because it looks like it's in what used to be a house that has been renovated to now be a liquor store. All of the beer that I saw was in coolers which is a big plus. They have a smaller but very solid selection of craft and import beers including some beers I didn't see at any of the other craft beer stores on the island. Service was great with the lady working being very friendly and helpful. Prices were reasonable compared to other stores on the island. Overall, this is a good spot to stop at to look for some harder to find beers on Oahu.

The Wine Stop has a small beer selection but frequently carries beers you can't find elsewhere. The prices are a bit high (comparable to the Liquor Collection, typically higher than Whole Foods or Tamura's). That said, I just found Old Rasputin 4-pack there for $10.99, the same as Whole Foods. They also had Deschutes Jubel 2010 there last week (November 2011) which is very exciting for me. Like many folks in Honolulu my home isn't climate controlled, so storing beer long-term is difficult. I can't wait to try it and see how it's different after a year.

The staff are frequently more wine-knowledgeable than beer but if you have questions (mine have been distribution/availability-type) they will take down your info and pass it along to the right employee. I think they store their inventory well, I've never had a problem with any beer being off.

This isn't my first stop for beer on the island but I try and stop in periodically because they have some unique inventory.
