Notes / Commercial Description:
Finally an American IPA from us. This beautiful red-orange ale has a full malty body balanced by a fruity apricot/grapefruit nose. Mounds of dank Summit hops in the whirlpool and dry-hop additions provide a delicious finish to this East meets West-coast ale.

12 Ounce bottle stamped Apr. 26 2017. Good color and head with a slightly citrus aroma. Some malt in the taste along with a well balanced hop grapefruit character. Refreshing and easy drinking. Purchased at Luke's in Brewster.

Not a great coloring on the body (pale yellow-gold, almost straw colored) but the head and lacing are impressive. Smell is true to a English IPA standards (malt rich) but has a very nice citrusy American aspect to it. Very balanced, and that bleeds into the taste which balances bitterness and sweetness, citrus and earthiness, grass and pine. Feel is more silky and robust than the look would suggest. Quite nice. Up against modern American IPAs I can see this one getting passed over quickly because it's extremely balanced and subtle. But comparing it to more traditional English IPAs I think it's a winner.

This one was poured into a pint glass and a tulip. There wasn’t any difference between the two. The appearance had a nice red-orange color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute and left some light glossy spider web lacing. The smell had a "fruity" apricot to grapefruit aroma with a nice bittering underneath of some light spicy hops. The taste had a nice citrusy to apricot-like flavoring coat my taste buds fairly nicely. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium in body with a fairly decent sessionable aspect about it. The carbonation seemed just a tad under for the IPA style, but honestly wasn’t too bad to me. Overall, for the most part, I say this was a good IPA worthy of having again.

Had this on 2017-06-05 at BWI airport on tap

A - pretty clear gold with a short white head

S - Tropical, biscuit and lightly dank

T - Much like the smell plus some earthy spice and reasonable grapefruit zest lingering bitterness. Balanced.

M - High carbonation, light medium body. A bit too carbonated.

O - A pleasant IPA. Well made.
