Poured from a bottle into a snifter, the beer is a dark, ruby-highlighted brown coloring with no head of any sort on the surface. Aromas are tart and rich cherry in the forefront, with some tangy and sour tones throughout and a base of woody and earthy blends. Enticing nose. Flavors are initially smooth, with a slightly roasted and earthy tone that transitions into a slick, slightly tart and smoked dark cherry sweetness. Not as "in your face" sour and lock-jaw tart as some Krieks tend to get, making it much more drinkable for the average beer-goer. The aftertaste is light, with currant and cherry tang. Slick, quick finish with a slight tart and dry feeling left behind. Very smooth and tasty.

Bottle from 2013
A: Poured into a Duvel tulip to a deep red which is topped by a dense and slightly rocky finger of off white head which fades slowly to a collar around the edge of the glass with minimal lacing.
S: Smells of sour cherries, oak, leather, and slight funk
T: Taste is sour cherries up front with some leather, oak, furniture polish and slight funk. Hints of caramel sweetness and light sourness with a slightly juicy cherry flavor. On the swallow there's more cherries, oak, leather, and light lingering funk with a little bit of a medicinal note on the back end.
M: This beer has a body which is on the lighter side of things. It teeters on being watery with a slightly slick feel. Carbonation is effervescent and slightly prickly while the beer has a drying finish due to the acidity.
O: Overall this is a great beer. It has a really nice amount of complexity with all the flavors that you would expect to find in the style. The cherry addition is nice and it doesn't overshadow the base beer. I wouldn't mind trying this one a bit fresher.

2010 vintage courtesy of Thirstybird. 750ml bottle served in a tulip. Pours a dull mahogany hue with a two inch, tight, pink tinged head. Copious tiny bubbles adhere to the bowl of the glass below the cap. Amazing nose reminiscent of a Flanders Oud bruin - hints of oak, cherries, lactose and cinnamon, as well as a suggestion of leather. Taste consistent with nose; however, a little more muted than suggested by the aromas. Mouthfeel is light in body with a lively carbonation and a kiss of astringency. All and all, this beer has held up spectacularly. Very pleasant and drinkable with a modest complexity.

Appearance - The beer poured a deep auburn red color with a white head.
Smell - The nose was rich with spicy cherry and light oak.
Taste - Rich tart cherry is at the front with a Rolaids inducing level of acidity. As the cherries fade, the oak becomes more present. Tart cherry skin lingers on the roof of the mouth.
Mouthfeel - There was some tomato juice-like thickness here after the carbonation was diffused.
Overall - This was a little too acidic for me, but I still enjoyed it.

A fine, creamy beige, one-inch froth lasts a few minutes, leaving no lace on a teku glass above a hazy garnet beer.
Fruity tartness dominates the cherry, while oak and vanilla play minor roles. Cough syrup is faintly detectible.
The flavor is powerfully tart with lots of oak and cherry. Sweetness is equally strong. A modest finish hardly touches the acidity.
This one has a medium to light body with high carbonation and a satin, dry texture. The alcohol is high, especially in the finish.
This would make a nice morning beer, or it could be served as an aperitif. The color and tartness match Thanksgiving cranberries.
