Stadium Tavern gives me the impression that this is Heroe's Light; a sports bar at heart with a good crowd, plenty of beer flowing from the many taps, an outdoor patio, and sports bar cuisine. In comparison to Heroe's, Stadium Tavern is smaller in many aspects; its tap lineup, its bar area, its wiggle room, and prices.

A quiz was happenin' as I walked in last night, one which I didn't dare to partake in 'cuz I'm not that smrt. D'oh! It wasn't packed to the brim, but no question that I would need to search hard for a place to sit. There's a pillar sitting behind the bar, which made walking between the two split halves an adventure. You're guaranteed to run into somebody between those points. You'll need to fight your way to the bar to get a drink on a busy night.

Close to 30 taps pour from behind the bar, split into two major sections. I already mention of a pillar getting in your way in between the haves, so checking out exactly what's on-tap can be a pain in the ass. I suppose you could check the menu too, though some of the beers have rotated out. I had checked out this place three years ago, and I can say that the tap selection is much improved today. While still macro oriented, there are some good picks out of the lot; Stone Ruination, Union Jack IPA, Racer 5, Black Butte Porter, Double Barrel Ale, Spaten Oktoberfest, Hemp Ale, and Loakal Red. Three sizes of beer are offered, though most were drinking out of standard shaker pint glasses.

One nice little bonus of Stadium Tavern are the prices. Good pints go for "only" $5.50, which is a bargain compared to Heroe's $6 for 14 ounce cheater pints. Even the pint of Loakal Red I bought was $5.50.

I wouldn't call it a must stop in downtown Fullerton, but at least Stadium Tavern has now put itself on the radar as a possible place for good beer.

This bar is located in downtown Fullerton, just off of Harbor. I stopped in here because I knew it was associated with the Stadium Brewing further south and hoped they had those house beers available. Unfortunately, they didn't.

But, since I was there, I decided to have a beer anyway. The tap list wasn't amazing, but it was pretty decent. Lots of seasonal stuff from Sam Adams and a good amount of beers from local breweries. They also had some old favorites like Racer 5 and some other Bear Republic beers.

The service was decent enough. Not really knowledgeable about beer, but that didn't surprise me. The bartender was at least helpful and friendly.

Prices are decent, nothing really crazy, especially considering it's in the notoriously overpriced Downtown Fullerton area.
