An IPA brewed by Shmaltz for Stewart's- this is clearly gonna be good.

This one pours a dark amber color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This smells like sweet caramel malt, astringent hops, grapefruit rind, cereal, etc.

This is pretty lackluster. It's just too malty and sweet, with only a little bit of generic hop bitterness- no complexity or really anything interesting.

This is medium bodied, crisp, and fairly clean, at least. It's definitely easy enough to drink.

This is quite a large step up from Mountain Brew. However, it's still kind of messy.

After the utter failure of Mountain Brew, I was skeptical to try Stewart's Shops exclusive craft beer. I then noticed it was brewed by Shmaltz, which has crafted some exceptional creations, so I bought a (very reasonably priced) six pack.
Pours a nice pale gold with a big frothy head that lingers, but leaves little lace. Smells a lot like what I expect from Shmaltz; big malty backbone with notes of cereal, caramel, and raisins. Tons of good pine and citrus to balance.
The taste follows the smell, although it's slightly sweeter than I had anticipated. Plenty of hoppiness here. Slightly yeasty finish, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
Feels very light and effervescent considering the complexity of flavor.
Overall, I'm not blown away, but I'm pleasantly surprised.
Definitely the best beer I've bought from a gas station.
