Served in a tumbler.

Looking to both drown my sorrows over a Purdue loss (to the Irish, no less...) and augment my enjoyment of this get-together. Barrel-aged bock it is! This stuff pours a clear sunset amber-sienna topped by a short finger of wan off-tan foam. The nose comprises sweet caramel, vanilla, light bourbon, brown sugar, and a touch of oloroso sherry. The taste really brings the focus to the barrel, with the mil bourbon, vanilla, caramel, and light oak taking precedence over the honey, sherry, and sweet biscuit notes of what I perceive to be the bock itself. The combination is damn tasty, I must say. The body is a flexible medium, with a very light moderate carbonation and a smooth feel. Overall, a highly enjoyable beer, though one that is meant to be sipped, enjoyed over a period of time. Get some!

O this sh$t is good if you like boozy beers, much akin to English Barleywine. Sweet oxidazition, sweet sherry ala Lees Harvest Ale in cask
Big beer lovers rejoice in the Coney Island , He'brew style>>. Gadol, If you can find it.. From Beers of the World expensive case- aged at $12 per 22oz bomber. dopplebocks are good IMHO, and under appreciated. Limited release, enjoyed both bottles. Highly recommend to BIG beer lovers of barrel, booze and malt with finesse. Hop lovers look elsewhere.

Shalom and lights out. I enjoyed this bomber after an 2013 Parabola with the vivacious and enthusiastic wife. Flavor held up well to the RIS initial tasting.

Batch #1 bomber, bottled 6/01/2011. A darker bock, this pours a dark brown that is a bit murky but with improving clarity as it warms. Head is moderate, with a finger's worth that replenishes itself for a minute or two, then gradually dissipates, leaving lightly iridescent bubbles around the rim. Smells of caramel and vanilla malt, with significant heat from the 10% abv. Barrel character, honey, and wheat from the Buffalo Trace come in on the tongue, but the flavor also has undertones of papery oxidation and rubbing alcohol. Mouthfeel is pleasant but unremarkable, with a nice, full body that is undercut by some harshness from the alcohol.

Overall, this is past its prime compared to bottles that had less age on them when consumed. I remember it being smoother and more well-integrated when newer. I've scored it according to this tasting, given that I've seen no indication that Shmaltz is making this again (perhaps you can think of Bock Bock as the spiritual successor to BA Human Blockhead). Anything you can get your hands on at this point will be old, although there is a 2012 bottling that is a bit younger than mine.

Poured into a 1/2 liter stein a rich deep garnet color with a half finger off white head that held pretty well, love the richness and definition to the ccolor of this beer.Vanilla/caramel aromas are big along with toasty oak and a hint of anise, just warming and very appitizng.Big caramel sweetness and vanilla on the palate,it's a bit hot with more sweetness from the alcohol,it's a little sweet for my taste but for a beer this big and style it's not to much out of the ordinary.A rich full beer it has alot of top notch qualities about it,just sip it.
