Beautiful beer that let's some light through it's burnt orange color. Half inch head after poured into a pint glass that dissipated a minute or so after after forming. Very modest lacing left as the sips were taken. Floral hop aroma with citrus undertone and slight honey finish. I get a mild honey taste at the start that gets washed over by the hops and then a piney finish. On the lighter side of a medium body but a very pleasant mouthfeel. Solid overall from an unlikely source!

To stand out in today's IPA culture, brewers have a lot of tricks at their disposal. They can use odd grains or unorthodox hops. They can add fruits, spice or even aged them on wood. Or- they can just make them better! That's the route that Shmaltz takes.

Pouring with a hazy golden-peach color, the beer comes alive with a softly diffused glow. Its haze is a testament to its unadulterated character to come. As its creamy off-white head separates from its body below, the froth is a dense blanket that skirts the glass evenly across the glass and deeply into the session, lacing with well defined concentric rings as the beer fades.

Its juicy and tangy fruit flavors are a testament of not-so-timid hop additions. Red grapefruit, nectarine, passion fruit, mango, pineapple and even a pep of lemon and white grape decorate the peripheries while its supportive malt structure seems to give the fruit impressions a riper and more plump character. Its simply mouth-watering.

Similarly in taste, the beer's early sweetness is with caramel, honey and with a charming note of angel food cake. Its hoppy rise comes on fast as the ale lands on the middle palate. The onslaught of tangy citrus, sweet tropical, and racy orchard fruit culminate in a way to suggest "cream sickle" or "Hawaiian punch". Its light acidity evokes a nearly teeth churning effect. Yet as Hop Manna trended bitter and dry, it does so with such supple smoothness and delicacy until it arrives at a softly resinous taste of torn pine needles and citrus pith.

Its medium-light body is creamy-dry early and often. Deeply embedded carbonation gives a lightness to its texture and chases the taste into a tangy acidity, resinous dryness and calming warmth.

Hop Manna is truly like a miracle taste, coming from the heavens and gracing the whimsy of hop heads everywhere. Guilty as charged!

A: The beer is hazy amber orange in color and has a light to moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high beige head that died down, leaving a large patch of lacing in the center of the glass, a collar around the edge and some bubbles running down the sides of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of citrus hops are present in the nose—grapefruit stands out in particular—along with notes of tropical fruit hops and hints of floral hops.
T: The taste mostly mimics the smell, except that the tropical fruit flavors are a tad stronger and there are also hints of caramel malts. There is a moderate amount of bitterness that stands out the most and lingers in the finish.
M: It feels medium-bodied and a little crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This IPA isn't a hop bomb, but the mixture of Cascade, Centennial and Citra hops adds some complexities to the smell and taste.

05/07/18 on bottle neck
Amber with thick 1+-finger off white frothy head with sticky retention and copious lacing.
Aroma is mainly grapefruit, honeysuckle, grass, and mint. The malt component, while daunting by appearance (aka heavy caramel malt) is pretty unobtrusive with some graham
cracker notes.
Flavor is dominated by a solid blast of bitterness but finished with some nuanced hop flavors including grapefruit, orange, weed, grassy, and mintiness in the finish. The malt backbone is light in caramel character and is mainly solid pale malt with a little toasty note also.
Feel is excellent with lighter than expected body, moderate carbonation, and a dry finish with no alcohol presence. Dangerously quaffable at 7%.
I was pretty impressed by Hop Manna despite it not being the freshest bottle - it does a good job of scratching the hop and bitterness itches while remaining drinkable.

Reviewed on November 1, 2013. Poured a 22oz bottle into a pint glass (1.5x).

A: 1/2 fingered creamy head. It is so cloudy through this beer's copper body that one cannot see their hand pass it. Head dissipates quickly. Remnants of a head sticks around, but lacing is decent.

S: Beautiful pine and citrus emanating. Decent malt aromas as well. This is a nice standard IPA profile. Nothing out of the ordinary, but I enjoy a solid IPA nose.

T: The taste initially starts with a nice soft malt quality, but then a strong grapefruit bites throughout while even lingering. While continuing to drink the malt becomes slightly more present and memorable oddly enough.

M: The dry hopped qualities are quite remnant on the tongue. Slightly sticky oils, but with a nice crisp.

O: I really enjoyed this drink's taste at first, but it almost felt like the hops and malts were switching backwards and forwards. The qualities of a solid IPA are there, but just not properly balanced.

A: Deep honey golden with a foamy white head. Beautiful.

S: Nectary orange, tangerine and citrus peel in a delicious nose.

T: Tastes like hop juice. Orange, lemon, tangerine and bitter citrus peel. Dry.

M: Medium bodied and smooth enough.

O: Pretty good. Flavor could have been better, more akin to the nose. I love tangerine, and rarely see enough of it in the flavor of some of the beers that I've had that have it in the nose.

Came out a lighter amber with a creamy white head lasting a while and leaving some good lacing. There is a nice hops aroma (not too strong, though) with solid grapefruit notes. A nice malt backbone holds up the great hops flavor throughout. A nice weight to the body with a slight bite on the finish. Overall a very good IPA.
