Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. Pours very dark brown (almost black) with a small off white head. Smells of chocolate, raisins, and grapes. Tastes is much weaker than smell, watery dark grain with very slight nuttiness. Beer is light to medium bodied, good carbonation, easy drinking. Overall, an above average beer.

This is a brown ale the way it should be with nice dark roasted malts and chocolate taste that goes down very smooth, this is without a doubt one my fav brown ales.

From the variety pack, I decided to leave this style last...none too happy with it...

Out of the glass and into the pint glass, the brew certainly does look good - a dark, slightly reddish colored brew with tan head but little staying power, and no lacing to mention. The smell has boozy scent but the more it aired out the skunkier it got. The rest of the specs were less than stellar. The mouthfeel was carbonated and watery, and the taste was simply a mess of malts and hops - it tried to be something while being too many things at once. I couldn't really pull out anything in terms of taste. It's not a bad beer but certainly nothing I will really go out of my way to look for in the future.

12 oz bottle. Pours brown with a long lived beige head and nice lacing. Aroma is nutty, toasted, bready malt, brown sugar, dark fruit and coffee. Medium, smooth body. Taste is of herbal hops, toasted malt, brown sugar and dark fruit. Finish is a long lasting and bitter. Well made Brown.

Pours a deep brown tea color with a small white head. Nice sweet burnt caramel smell with a typical brown beer flavor. Swallow is smooth but not as smooth as a stout.

From notes taken 02/14/17:

Deep dark ruby red, could pass for brown. Definitely dark brown in indirect light, but just a hair more orange than red wine in daylight. Semi-opaque. Fluffy-foamy creamy tan head of great retention with a splotchy ringlet of lace. Malt tartness aroma the strongest but also the soonest to settle down, leaving just enough room for a slight bouquet of roastiness and toastiness. With last bit of pour, some resinous to earthy hops. Tart, toasty, roasty, earthy throughout. Decent balance, with somewhat irony tartness lasting through to an otherwise leathery, soily finish. Nutiness is mostly lost on me apart from the retro-olfaction which is also very mildly herbal and peppery. Prior to the finish I wouldn’t say it is not there, but there are other things here that are too similar but much stronger, at least for my palate. Medium body but the subtle tingly effervescence makes for an almost full mouthfeel. Hardly astringent for the style.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a very dark brown color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of dark breads, molasses. Taste is bready, nuts, light sweetness, some smoke, easy drinking. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is an enjoyable beer.
