22 oz. bottle, with no apparent bottled on date present. I have been eyeing this bottle for a while now, so I know this beer is about a year old now, but I doubt the 16.00% abv has mellowed much. This sounds like one of the craziest beers I've tried yet, so I have no idea what to expect.

Poured into a clear balloon snifter.

A - Pours with a slight mahogany hue to it, but it appears as opaque motor oil black in the glass. Just over a finger of creamy chocolate mocha head. Some thin scattered lacing. Looks good.

S - Smells rich, dark, sticky, and boozy. Oak wood, bourbon, rum, chocolate, cream, chocolatey fudge syrup, brown sugar, & cold coffee. Some fruitiness present on the end, but it isn't what I would describe as dark fruit, more juicy & earthy. There is no denying that there is a lot going on here.

T - Sticky, boozy chocolate syrup. Caramel. Toffee. Oak wood. Dark malt / coffee bean roast. Brown sugar. Earthy yeast, taffy apples, and some other indistinct fruitiness on the finish. Notes of vanilla, as the beer warms. Again, there is a lot of stuff going on here. Layers of fudgey chocolate roasted goodness.

M - Feel is smooth and creamy, with a long sticky candied, malty, caramel finish.

Overall, a big, bold, and brave beer. Definitely not as hot and messy as others have said, so maybe a year in the bottle did it some good. Sticky, sweet, and hot, but not overly so, and at no point is the massive 16.00% abv apparent, although I'm sure it is destined to doom me. A recommended slow sipper.

A: poured into a snifter to a deep and viscous black topped by a two finger dense dark tan head that retains well and leaves some lacing
S: smells of chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, dark fruits, molassess and some hop bitterness. not a lot of alcohol on the nose which is surprising
T: taste is chocolate and roasted malts with some coffee. slight bitterness but no discernable hop flavors. a little alcohol, some dark fruits, burnt sugar, charred wood and molasses. swallow is big and sticky with some alcohol notes but a lot of sweet maltyness with caramel, and chocolate covered espresso beans. slight oily hop bitterness as well
M: big and thick in the mouth with soft carbonation and a drying finish from all the alcohol that's a little oily as well.
O: Holy crap is all I can say. There isn't nearly as much complexity as Jewbelation 13 which was just layer after layer of flavors but this beer is more like an IRS on steroids. Very malty at this age but surprisingly tame when it comes to perceived alcohol flavors. the alcohol comes out a lot more as this beer warms up though. It's still a pretty stunning beer.
