Matt the Miller is an asset to Grandview. Okay, so they don't have fifty drafts on tap. So what. What they do have is a reasonable selection, featuring, I think, great breweries like Avery, Great Divide, Bells, Two Brothers etc.. and more than enough to choose from if you're wanting to sample.
We met the gal who does the beer buying and she was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about beer of all kinds, which is hard to find these days in employees. We all love our IPA's, Stouts and Ales but I think they do a good job of covering all the bases while still ensuring that what they serve is fresh. Can't stand a selection of 50 drafts and they're ALL flat.
Food was good, a bit pricey, but still worth the dough. Atmosphere is upscale, but its very noisy with the tin ceiling.. and hardwood wall panels (acoustic nightmare) so don't expect great conversation with 5 of your friends. You'll never hear them!!
Service: I thought for the most part the staff was friendly and making the effort. My only bitch is that you get the smaller glasses (snifter style) with the higher alcohol beer.
Overall - I enjoy going there.. Definitely recommended.

This is a new location for Matt the Miller's in Grandview on Grandview Ave.
The place is pretty modern and stylish; lots of geometric design, black trim and hardwood. The bar has 3 sets of tap, two large ones right along the bar, and a smaller one behind. The selection was good, but nothing to get overly excited for. I stopped in for a glass of Columbus Brewing's Big Frank. I was tempted by a glass of Celebrator, which was on tap and being served in it's signature glass. It seems they make an attempt to provide beers in their signature glasses.
The place was not packed, but I was there during an off time. The bartender was engaging other customers in a discussion about beer, so their employees have at least been told a thing or two about beer; but don't expect a very highly knowledgeable staff.
Any place that serves in proper glassware is ok in my book.
