typical beer selection, nothing really outstanding besides a few local SC brews like RJ Rocker. Very disappointed actually in their selection. Service was horrible.

Carolina Ale House is a reasonable establishment in Columbia. It is a sports bar with a pretty nice deck outside and solid, if uniteresting food choices. It is located in the heart of the Vista, a very nice part of town, which is a plus, but it is also a minus for BAs since Flying Saucer is only 2 blocks away with an immensely better selection. They have an okay line-up of the usual "import" beers like Bass, Guinness, Fat Tire, and SN pale ale, as well as some Thomas Creek and Sweetwater. The local offerings are why I give a 4 (this is subjective to Columbia, especially after reading reviews of other places). Mugs are frosted, the staff is friendly but occasionally bungle an order since the knowledge of craft beer is low "oh, I didn't know there were TWO Sweetwater beers." Overall, this is a nicer sports bar that is a good compromise when going out with friends who drink natty light, as they do have some good local offerings.
