Poured from a 1pint 0.9floz bottle into a glass mug.

A- A dark smokey black with a slightly off white head taht dissipates fairlyquickly and leaves a slight lacing upon the top of the beer.

S- Intensely smokey. Smells somewhat of smoked meats with a strong scent of wood. Slightly sweet with some notes of the malt and a vanilla aroma.

T- Starts off slightly sweet for the first few milliseconds before moving into a very strong almost overpowering smokey flavor. Tastes vary strongly of smoked meats and burnt malts. The taste of a nice bock is very apparent under all of the smokey flavor after you take a few sips. It is very sweet and malty with a slight breadiness. Has a nice intense smokey finish.

M- Full body with a heavy mouth feel. Medium carbonation.

O- A very interesting beer. I could see this being very good with some good meats or cheese. Not sure I would drink this on it's own again ever again though. It is very intense and almost overpowering at first. But moves into being very drinkable after the first few sips. A very solid beer.

First Rauchbier, looking forward to trying it.
Bottle poured into a pint glass.

A- Pours a dark amber with a large cushion of medium tan head that sticks around a while but slowly dissipating.

S- Sweet smokiness. Like when you open a smoker full of pork butts covered in a brown sugar based rub. Wet chunked hardwood charcoal.

T- Follows the nose well, sweet smokiness. Brown sugar cured bacon smoky. Taste is interesting, very complex. Would go very well with some Kansas City style barbecue.

M- Not much carbonation. Medium bodied beer. Slightly dry finish.

O- An interesting beer. Glad I picked one up. Would go great with smoked meats.

Pours a half finger of an egg shell colored head. Clear translucent black body. Hardly any retention.

Smells like a pleasant camp fire. Very cleanly smoked.

Tastes like the smell, smoke and then some Carmel toffee malts. This has a nice subtle bock beer base. The big simple flavor of the smoke blend with the subtle bock beer nicely. As this warms a slight alcohol warmth and taste comes out.

Medium bodied, medium carbonation. The flavors linger for just a moment with a touch of clean hop bitterness.

Overall this is a great beer. Quite drinkable and very interesting as I've only had a few smoked beers. I'd love to try this again with some BBQ food.

Clear ruby in the Stiegl stange with a creamy beige head that lifts to half an inch and leaves patchy lacing.

Big smoky aroma as expected, akin to summer sausage, with a light scent of bandaid in the background.

Smoked bacon with perceptible roasted malt. The long, subtle finish has a light bitterness.

Soft texture of cotton jersey with a full body and light alcohol. Light carbonation with astringency long into the finish.

An easy drinking, comfortable beer, suitable for winding down after a stressful day.

500ml bottle poured in a dimpled pint mug.

A: Pours a deep dark amber to brown color forming a medium beige head. Medium to low retention and lots of lacings left

S: Very particular. Very smoky as expected. Bacon. Roasted malts, honey, brown sugar

T: As the nose, very roasted and smoky. Bacon, honey, roasted malts, smoked wood. Sweet candy/brown sugar upfront. Sweeter than the Marzen version. End is roasted bitterness

M: Medium and molasses body. Medium carbonation. Roasted bitter aftertaste

O: Excellent beer, excellent drinkability. The best Rauchbier ever! :)

Dark beer, not much head, slow ring and lost of sudsy lace. Smells like smoke. Lots of smoke. Ok, some bacon too. Taste like smoke. Lots of smoike. Ok, some bacon too. Mouth is medium, good carb, balance way out of whack. I wouldn't try this again, but I was glad to experience.

A: Cola black/brown with a rich creamy head. Nice pretty lacing. Looks delicious.

S: Burnt, smoked hardwoods. Campfire smokiness. That warm cozy aroma that fills the room when you open the fireplace up to stoke it or add a fresh clean log. Awesome.

T: smoked woods. Again, almost identical to the smoke one associates with a campfire or a warm cozy fireplace.

M: Thick and creamy with really nice carbonation. A little dry on the finish.

O: This is the second of these smokebeers I've tried and they just get better and better. The best part about these are the amazing nose - and the nostalgia. It brings back good memories of camping all summer long in Oregon.

Poured from 500mL bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: rich, hazy brown hue with two fingers of frothy tan foam. A nice-looking brew.

Smell: right up front is the powerful, rich smoke aroma; this then subsides into a long tail of sweet malt and vanilla. I rather like it.

Taste: again, rich smoke starts off the party, after which some complex malt flavors develop on the palate. Raisins, vanilla and a light fruitiness tail off into a richer and smokier finish. Quite good indeed.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a well-integrated carbonation which yields a nice creaminess. This combines with a rich silkiness to leave a smooth, rich mouthfeel.

Overall: I'm deriving a lot of enjoyment from drinking this beer. I feel like I could drink a ton of it and not get tired of it; there are so few really good smoked beers out there, I'll take this whenever I can get it.

Poured from a 500ml bottle into a Brooklyn tulip.

A: Pours a beautiful brown-black with a rocky off-white head. Good retention and great lacing.

S: Pungent and silky aroma of smoked malts. Burning firewood, smoked meat, brown bread, chocolate. Incredibly savory and delicious-smelling.

T: Roasted grain, bread, milky chocolate, smooth notes of smoked meat, charcuterie, beechwood, and direct notes of wispy smoke. A bit of hop sweetness and bitterness on the end. The smoke is more restrained than in the nose, but this is good for the balance of the beer.

M: Silky mouthfeel with fine carbonation.

O: This stuff is delicious.
