Been wanting to have this for awhile.
The appearance is a dark reddish brown with a bit of clarity.
The aroma is a nice intense BBQ smokiness, and big malt sweetness.
The taste is woody smokiness with a chocolate malt sweetness that mixes well.
Has a nice medium plus palate with a smokiness that lingers pleasantly.
Overall this is another awesome rauchbeer that I would love to have at the source.

From a bottle in Atlanta.
Clear dark brown body with a very good head.
Very smooth, near full feel with pepper carbonation.
Very smoky aroma and flavor but not quite to the level that would totally mask some dark bread notes.
Overall: excellent for style.

L : Passed this up several times, finally decided to give it a whirl. It's pronounced "Aeisht Shlinkowla RowchbEErh". Anyways! This Urbock pours hazelnut from the bottle and forms a dark chocolate black in the duvel. The head is puffy and large, 3 fingers, and gradually recedes to a finger and sticks. Lace left on the glass sparsely.

S : Aaaand the aroma is like walking into a butcher shop. Cured hard meats, smoked salami, with a light herbal freshness and bright malts.

T : The smoke comes out first, giving way immediately to pastrami, then to roasted malts, and finally to a semi-bitter twist of cilantro, celery, and citrus rind.

F : Fabulous, as expected. Very wet, very dense, very malty and creamy. Nice carbonation pops things up a bit. Finish is slightly smokey.

O : The Urbock isn't half bad, but nowhere near the stature of their Marzen. I really thought this was going to have more flavor popping out than it did; instead it gives you a nip of smoke and then disappears into a light German Bock.

Smells and tastes like a camp fire. For me, this is nothing more than a novelty. Interesting on the first sip, but getting harder and harder to finish.

Pours a clear mahogany with emphasis on brown great head of off white foam.

Great wood chip barbecue/smokie aromas. Sneaky amount of sweet malt in there.

Huge smoke right off the bat with some malty sweetness ...bbq in a glass.

Smooth mouthfeel and very easy to drink despite the intense smoke.

So good.

This smoked bock pours a dark brown color with a slight amber tint and a medium foamy white head that quickly dissipates. The smell is assertive, like many beers from this brewery. It has an incredibly rich character of smoked meat with a hint of sweetness. The flavor lives up to the scent. It is aggressively smoky and has a flavor profile that I think is somewhere between the marzen and the eiche doppelbock. Like the marzen there are strong hints of smoked meat, but like the eiche doppelbock it is also reminiscent of a campfire. There is a slight sweetness to the flavor as well. The taste of alcohol is also surprisingly assertive given that this is only a 6.5% beer. With many beers this would be a negative comment, but combined with the smokiness it is in this case a positive thing in my opinion. The finish has a lingering smokiness. The body is on the high end of medium, but of course slightly lighter than the eiche. I could easily see many people picking the marzen as their favorite from this brewery, but for me this one is the best. This beer is truly a smoked beer masterpiece and probably the best example I have ever tried of this intriguing style.
