On-tap at Wall St. Bar, Helsinki, Finland
A: The beer is crystal clear yellow in color and has no visible carbonation. It poured with a slight white head that died down, leaving lacing on the surface and the sides of the glass.
S: Light aromas of pale malts are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell, having flavors of pale malts and a moderate amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied, clean and somewhat smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer has a very good balance between the malts and hops.
Serving type: on-tap

330 ml can in Rodes Greece in May 2015. 5.3% BB date of 1-2016.
Deep amber colored body. Nice black can with a bear face but this is not a bold beer. Instead, this is a rather average pilsner. Clean and mildly bitter.

We got a couple cases of this Karhu before getting on the ferry to island-fortress Sveaborg (Suomenlinna), aboard which you apparently can't drink martinis.
The beer, well, if it weren't for the ideal scenery we had thanks to a brilliant sunset and well all the landmarks, I would give a 1 overall, but i just held it deep in my heart like i still hold T. Strohm a great friend for taking us there despite his awful addiction to any drug and his friends who smuggle people. helsinki was a religious experience and this merits no less (but no more) than an average rating.

Served a golden amber with a very small white head. Tastes strong of cheap malt with a light bittering balance. A simple beer with the grace of being better than Lapin Kulta, but not much better. Try some of Koff's more special brews instead if you can find them. Mouthfeel just gests you in the back of the throat. Meh.

The colour is golden yellow. The small foam dissolves almost instantly into a thin white ring.
The smell is almost non-existent, but there are some notes of white bread and malt.
The carbon dioxide is quite strong with medium-sized bubbles.
The taste got a little more bitterness than I expected, but it decreases into a fine balanced body with a nice body of sweet malt and gentle hops. There are notes of white bread and almonds. The aftertaste is very mild wit a little hint of marzipan.
This is a standard-type lager, but a little better than the average.
A note on the name: Karhu is Finnish for bear. IV A is the tax class for this beer, many beers in Finland is made in several different percentages of alcohol.
